i was feeling mh- and found myself listening to les misérables, which doesn't help. so i switched to donna summer. but macarthur park is next and i may need a new plan
Follow along in the thread for questions, respond with your answers (one at a time or in a numbered batch!) and I'll let you know if you're right (or wrong).
A business tax "reform" (cut?) backed by business groups, London Breed, and Aaron Peskin contains a gratuitous poison pill that would kill the @sftransitact (boo!).
But we're soldiering on, as we can still win if the ComMUNIty Transit Act gets more votes. Come to an event, sign it and get involved!
@scott@sftransitact this sucks, but it's an opportunity for voter education - and hopefully every person signing for the muni petition is not only a vote against downtown, but also a thought leader for their circles. this is what they do. this is how they stack the deck. even erstwhile friends like peskin.
@scott thank you. i actually have a personal rule against voting for anything that doesn't fit in the ballot book. there's no way this 110-page tome would fit. the most interesting thing so far is the expansion of 'small business', which triggers a bunch of exemptions. that used to be $1m receipts and went up to $2m this year; the measure appears to bump that to $5m in 2025 and beyond. that's quite different conceptually from the prior report that i've been reading
Social housing would solve so many problems but California hates it for some reason. Mayor Breed hates it at the municipal level as well, although in her defense, it may not be ideological, just pettiness about her rival Dean Preston championing it. https://sfba.social/@alfredtwu/112516860891403040
@metabrainz the hetzner thing is pretty rich. i don't accept any inbound traffic from hetzner ranges because it's all malicious bots, and everyone knows hetzner abuse dept doesn't do anything. except, apparently, to mbz :blob_cat_knife:
i came across a post saying "30 is the new 80" and i guess the poster just moved to a country that uses temperatures in celsius. can't imagine what else that might mean.
I can’t be the only one who noticed that the San Francisco Symphony is only performing one actual symphony this season, and that’s being done by the youth symphony. Everything else is either incidental or chamber music. Perhaps they should change their name?
Why everyone should support women’s soccer: a thread. 🧵
Cheap tickets. Even at big venues like PayPal Stadium, the cheapest seats are around $16. If you don’t mind sitting in the nosebleed section, that’s value for money.
@Rodelinda i had a peek at upcoming tickets and i'm very encouraged that the lower rows all seem sold out. even the presence of resale scalpers is heartening, as where there are roaches, there's food #BayFC
