the one left off part about this entire discussion is that part of the problem with nix systems being unintuitive is that when the recommendation is to use vendor install scripts new users have no idea how to diagnose that, they won't know the signs of things being wrong and they will very easily end up with a broken system that makes linux/whatever feel janky and not matured.

fun fact about windows, with windows 10 they started releasing a special edition called "Windows 10 Pro Education" which is supposed to signify it was bought under education or something. I've gotten into fights with windows sysadmins who thought I was making shit up until I showed them this edition. the documentation said that it was supposed to have cortana disabled by default, file indexing off etc to comply with edu... yeah well it never did, and in fact guess what? copilot, chat app, microsoft xbox, gamebar, all of those things come preinstalled on it. What the fuck? Why?
