I have found a power cable so I can use my laptop. But even more importantly. I've found cake.

Due to the wonders of joined up thinking and integrated public transport. The ferry arrives at 0630. The train goes at 0631. The next train is at 0728...

In London, where can I buy an adapter to plug an EU power cable into a UK socket?

Is anyone keeping a list of all the parts that are known to have fallen off a 737 in flight? Wondering how much longer until we can build a complete plane from the pile.

I like the idea. But does the UK rail network work well enough to support such a move. Are there enough trains, running frequently enough? Will it in stead cause more people to drive further.

Laying in bed listening to the rain. The wind is giving it that extra oomph as it hits against the windows.

Can't get out of my brain the thought that warm air holds more moisture unseasonably warm weather like we've been having, is gonna become more common, and with it, more rain, and heavier rain.

I wonder if anyone is doing anything to improve our infrastructure to cope with this new normal.

It all comes down to trust.

I'll leave it up to you to work out which of the various topics I talk about on here this toot is about. Security? Economics? Politics? Urban design? Cycle infrastructure?

Trust.

Oh. And before any of you lay any blame on the maintainers of these open source project.

How many of you have blindly installed stuff by running curl | sudo bash ?

Did you verify the binaries and the code the bash script ran/installed? How did you confirm trust on those binaries?

Xz is the oss supply chain attack we know about. You can guarantee there are many many more. How we manage installation, and dependency's should perhaps have a little more thought...

One of the big advantages of the UNIX model of small tools, each built to do one thing, and so it well, is it's easy for one person to keep on top of the code base for that tool. Modern codebases measured in the millions of lines of code, are impossible for anyone to fully grasp. Systemd is 1.3m loc, which is bonkers, but the chrome code base is 35m. It's impossible for anyone person to have any real oversight of what most of that code is doing.

Our codebases are just far far too complicated.

Oh and don't get me started on people who run docker containers they downloaded without any clue what's going on in them.

What version of liblzma does your container use? What version of libssl?

Why are we building chip fabrication facilities in water stressed areas? Worlds biggest fabs are on Taiwan. A small island with very precarious water supplys.

US chips actually is finding new dabs in the US... In Arizona... In Texas... Seriously?!? You have states like Washington where it basically never stops raining, and you want to build a heavy water using industry in a fucking desert?!?!?

The EU is building a big facility in Magdeburg Germany, which is marginally better.
