I had a difficult time committing to learning because I didn't fully grasp what it could be used for. I know it can be used for a lot because everybody says so, but when you're a non-programmer learning your first language, some of the things people say can be done with Python... well, you just don't know what those things mean or what they are. LOL. It's like explaining what a network is to a 4 year old.

And if I don't understand what something is, I can't get excited about it. And if I can't get excited about it, I struggle to focus learning it.

But now that I found one Basic Baby Project[1] that you can use Python to make, I feel like I've gone feral blasting through this Python textbook that has been gathering dust since college ​:meowwobble:​

[1] Interactive Fiction / Text Adventure games. Think parser games like Zork, Anchorhead, etc. that are typically made in Inform or even Javascript. I know there are "better" languages and methods to making an actual fully fleshed IF game but I'm doing this to learn Python, not to learn how to actually publish a game I want recognition for.

Logically, I believe adults who understand the risks should be permitted to receive any cosmetic surgery their heart desires.

Emotionally, I get irritated and roll my eyes when cisgender women show up in online top surgery spaces that are overwhelmingly populated and full of discussions only relevant to transgender men and some nonbinary people.

I feel guilty for instinctively bristling at their presence but it is what it is.

    @ItsTrainingCatsAndDogs I like to be punctual and I like when others are punctual. I don't want to waste other people's time, nor do I want my own time to be wasted.

    For example: If I'm given the time of 3:00pm, I will try to arrive as close to 3:00pm as I can. But if I'm told something like, "Let's meet around 3:00pm", I'm comfortable arriving - and having other people arriving - anywhere from 3:00 to 4:00.

    Note: I'm black. I don't operate according to BPT and I hate it.

    @kimby i've had moshidon for a while (for my previous mastodon account) but i wasn't aware it worked with sharkey. i assume it doesn't work well with all of sharkey's features and that's why you only use it for image uploads?

    My boyfriend (@vampire) and I went to a cat café today for his birthday! ​:abunhdhappy:​ We spent an hour in the kitten room. One of the kittens climbed up the front of my sweater; I think she was enamored with my day collar.

    There was a rabbit upstairs where it was quiet, outside the kitten room. According to the employee, the rabbit prefers the company of cats to other rabbits and they're not sure why! When we were leaving, the rabbit was chilling under a coffee table. I put my hand down and she sniffed me. :0

    @NullNowhere I've been on the Fediverse since 2017/2018 and that has always been the dominant culture here, so it's no surprise to me. As more people have come from Twitter that's been changing though. I'm now seeing people even adding tags to others' posts in the replies, which would've been frowned upon just 2 years ago. The people who don't add tags do it because they don't want their posts to be found by randos.

    Hello, everyone! I'm new. ​:zerotwowave:​

    I was originally at @incubus but had to step away temporarily due to my opinion re: federation with Threads not aligning with the staff team.

    You can call me Raziel or Raz. I'm a queer guy in the United States. I'm pretty quiet on social media but I want to change that in 2024! My main interests right now are Splatoon 3 and Baldur's Gate 3 but I've been known to get on my Genshin Impact bullshit whenever a new husbando is released.

    Regarding animanga, I've been enjoying Demon Slayer and Spy × Family lately. I finished Deadman Wonderland a day or two ago and I'm on the lookout for the next manga to read. I'm pretty slow with consuming Japanese media as I've gotten older lol.

    @fujiwara I was surprised by how much I liked the first season of Spy × Family because comedy isn't usually my thing, but it was so cute and had me hooked by the end of the first episode. I can't wait to catch up with season two, just gotta wait for my partner to be ready to watch it. ​:blobfoxhyper:​

    @fujiwara See, I'm worried reading the manga will ruin my enjoyment of the anime. I looove a good mystery and I like to be surprised, so I'm concerned reading ahead and learning how it all turns out will take away that anticipation and tension.

    @rob I've seen a lot of people who play Turf War and Salmon Run and don't bother with ranked matches. Nothing wrong with that. I've been focusing on getting Salmon Run badges, so I've been neglecting ranked matches too. ​:blobfoxlaughsweat:​
