I've had #ttrpg on the brain for 25 years, but only started publishing zines and games in 2023. #AlphabetSquadron🏳️‍🌈

Man everytime I release something new, my level of excitement for the hobby peaks and then literal days later plummets to depths unknown.

Is it because I always want my latest thing to perform better than previous ones and they dont? Probably.

Has it been happening for years and I still dont have a good solution or a better mindset? Also yes.

So I'm taking a break from writing to just play for a while. As that is my not great solution.

@LindseyBonnette Relatable! Tell us if you figure it out, and enjoy just playing in the meantime.

So, yeah, there's a tornado on the ground south of Madison. It's the first tornado in February in recorded weather history. This is fine.

I've begun a collection of commercial use art assets for TTRPGs on itch: https://itch.io/c/4026724/commercial-use-art-assets -- let me know what I'm missing!

Re: last boost, Forsaken, a sci-fi "'sandbox' board game that’s narrative-driven" sounds right up my alley, but holy cats, that's a chunk of change: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/gametrayz/forsaken

Thinking more about the sci-fi narrative-driven board game Forsaken, I think that I can get a similar experience from the solo RPG Notorious (https://alwayscheckers.itch.io/notorious), which I have already enjoyed and preordered at much less expense. 💸

@Tim_Eagon Yes, Notorious definitely put Torben Bökemeyer (https://torbenboekemeyer.me/) on my list of artists I would love to commission!

by Jason Morningstar has been on my radar for over 10 years, and I finally played it! In our game, two women on the run from the law picked up Mormon missionaries in hopes of using them to get through a police checkpoint. They just made one mistake: these nice Mormon boys had their felon uncle with them, and police did not exactly make him calm. But where there's a lot of sin, there's a lot of forgiveness, and we certainly needed it: I think we got up to three severed arms by the end?

@SJohnRoss Yes! I’m hoping that we do another playset before the end of the year, but there’s so many different games to play, so we’ll see.

Does anybody know of a way to upscale images with good results?

Here's the problem: we were recently handed POD versions of PDFs, which we were going to extract the images from. They were embedded at >300 DPI, but were originally 72. We're looking to salvage a small portion of them.

@rivetgeek depending on the art style, the dubiously named waifu2x might work.

I was reading the cute zine Know Your Dice! by @rayotus, which got me thinking about how 1d4+1d8 has a different probability curve than 2d6 (hat-tip to @Da_Gut for recently reminding me of this), so then I started poking around in Python, and ended up making a chart! https://cohost.org/rjgillis/post/3792144-i-was-reading-the-cu :d4: :d6: :d8: :d12:

Notorious by Jason Price (https://alwayscheckers.itch.io/notorious) is a sci-fi where you are a bounty hunter in a setting that is lovingly reminiscent of . I picked this up on a whim while browsing the "solo RPG" tag on itch, and I'm glad I did! There's quite a bit of flipping around the rulebook, so I'm looking forward to getting the physical, spiral-bound edition. 1/

A friend's teenager who is into and writing is looking for solo journaling games. Notorious (https://alwayscheckers.itch.io/notorious) and Bucket of Bolts (https://mouseholepress.itch.io/bucket-of-bolts) came to mind first, but what else might he like?
