If you have documents with the answers you're looking for, why not search the documents directly? Why are you embedding the documents then using (Retrieval Augmenter Generation) to make a large language model give you answers? An LLM generates text, it doesn't search a DB to give you results. So just search the damn DB directly, we already have great search algorithms with O(1) retrieval speeds! are so stupid.

So the bank is stupid. They told me they don't and won't handle foreign transactions. Basically, the account cannot receive money from abroad. Absolutely useless in 2023.

Let's talk Anger. Anger is a normal human emotion. Women are often taught to suppress it. Men are often taught it's the only emotion they are allowed to express. Anger that is fleeting, nothing wrong with that, but what about the anger that stays? Anger that doesn't fade means something, it's a propellant. It pushes us to change. If we don't change, and we stay in it or we refuse to acknowledge it, it starts to destroy us from the inside, our health, our contentment.

What has anger meant in your life? How has it affected you in the past? How does it affect you now?

@RickiTarr I came to realize that anger was an expression of some deeper unmet need or frustration, and became conscious about taking care of my needs so I don't get overwhelmed by anger

Hanko & bureaucracy rant!

There is this bill from my city hall that I have to pay by direct deposit. I can't pay it at the convenience store, or by bank transfer (ATM or online). JP Bank is not one of the banks I can pay at either, there is a specific list. The bill is not even much, just ¥3,450.

So I have to find time in my busy schedule to go to the banks, which notoriously close at 3. Today I cycled to one of the banks and I had the cash and everything.

There were no customers waiting but they made me fill a form with my name (including kana), address, phone number and a space for a hanko which I signed, then I got a number from the machine, then they called me, then made me sit for a moment while they completed the deposit. Finally, they called me and gave me my copy of the deposit slip.

A while later, they called me on my phone while I was jogging to tell me they needed my hanko. A signature won't do.

So now I have to waste my time again soon because yelling ハンコの時代はもう終わってますよ at the girl at the counter won't solve anything. But dammit I want to yell at someone.

Anyway, next time I'll pay at the city hall branch office that is currently closed for renovation and won't open until after this current bill is due.
