Korea comes to Longton Avenue.

V 'FRI(END)S' - no that's not the cat walking across the keyboard - it's a K-Pop star releasing new record on Friday 15th March. For unexplained reasons they chose Sydenham as part of the supporting photoshoot.

Sharp eyed folks will spot Sydenham Wells Park on the left with the view down Longgton Avenuefrom near the Sydenham Wells junction. The number plate of the car on the right has been "Katified".

The guy has a Wikipedia entry here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_(singer)

Our Crystal Palace dinosaurs statues are world famous for introducing these monsters from the past in Victorian times. Most of the credit and photos is attributed to men.

But today we would like to celebrate the great contribution to the paleontology which predates the term dinosaurs. Mary Anning born 1799 and about to appear on four postage stamps (will these too be dinosaurs soon?).

John Hamilton is the anti-ltn Workers Party candidate for the Lewisham Mayoral by-election on Thursday.

George Galloway and John Hamilton will speak at a Lewisham rally for Gaza on the steps of the Catford Civic Suite Tuesday 6pm.

An opportunist chance to boost John's vote on the back of discontent on Gaza rather than address what a Mayor could do for Lewisham?

Spotted this morning in Penge Sainsbury car park - a vintage Triumph Mayflower. Only 35,000 were made between 1949-1953. Withdrawn because it was not a sales success unlike it's cheaper competitor the Morris Minor. But is distinctive razor sharp looks remain a childhood memory.

"In a broad, tree-lined road in the southeast London suburb of Sydenham stand the sprawling buildings and grounds of St Christopher’s Hospice."

So begins the story of how Sydenham hero Cicely Saunders helped begin the development of the opoids to help her terminal patients. How the Seckler family exploited its addictive power to enrich themselves with money and influence while ruining millions of lives.

Lidl will close their Beckenham store before the end of the year. Penge has been closed and Bellingham is closed till next spring.

Which makes our tiny Sydenham Lidl the only store for this end of London. Expect longer queues!

THE RIDL OF LIDL

Earlier this year I bought a packet of crisps at the Sydenham Lidl. British crisps - or were they?

On the back there appears to be a wee contradiction being both 100% British (like me) but also non-British.

Is this part of the golden crisp uplands where freed of EU regulations we can be what we want. Or will Suella confiscate them and put them on a plane to Rwanda?

Rear of bag with another Union Jack flag claiming to be 100% British potatoes. Bottom right is a best before date stamp with ''contains non-British potatoes'

London City Airport has appealed and a Public Enquiry will decide whether London City will be permitted to expand operating hours to fly all day Saturdays.

Along with FHSoc and Hacan East we have engaged in resisting this expansion plan and continue to prepare material for our participation as a Rule 6 Party at the Inquiry. This is a way for Londoners under their low flight paths in SE London to try and stop it.

In light of Lucy Letby's conviction and the sometimes disturbing turn that discussion of it have taken, the 1st known case of a qualified nurse killing child patients - in SE London in 1918 - was considered similarly baffling and horrific at the time: https://academic.oup.com/hwj/article/80/1/183/665028
