1/several: Come hear about and Cultural Burning in Napa and beyond, this Monday April 1 on Zoom, from 6 - 7 pm Pacific! Our speaker is Charlie Toledo (Towa), Executive Director of Suscol Intertribal Council in Napa. She'll speak to questions like, How has colonialism's outlawing of cultural burns contributed to the climate crisis? What can settler climate activists do to support Indigenous cultural burners, here and abroad? https://www.climaterealitybayarea.org/chapter-events/2024/04/01/cultural-burning-and-climate-resilience

2/several: If you want to check out our list of Cultural Burning suggested readings/watchings/listenings featuring Indigenous creators/authors, click here; also, u can sign up for tomorrow's zoom meeting (no need to have read all or any of them! I'm happy to meet u & be in solidarity)! My takeaway: season is almost here, & looking at as always bad (& a Manly Man occupation) is settler-centric. Fire has been, can be, & is good! https://www.climaterealitybayarea.org/chapter-events/indigenous-voices-reading-listening-circle-zl5nl-5ma83

(She also runs an excellent Indigenous !) https://www.climaterealitybayarea.org/chapter-events/2023/9/23/canadian-tar-sands-and-indigenous-resistance

I’m sorry, if you seriously believe that Germany’s present investments wouldn’t have happened if the country hadn’t shut down its remaining power plants, that’s just incredibly naive.

Conflating the issues of nuclear power and coal and framing things as if these are the only two options benefits only those who benefit from either (or both) of them.

Both need to go. And one being successfully ended now after literally two whole generations of activism is absolutely a success and doesn’t hinder the fight against the other.

Don’t let yourself be played against your fellow comrades.

@Esther Thank you. Also ecological & human destruction from uranium mining, but the humans harmed by mining & waste storage are largely Indigenous, so (apparently) overlooked by settlers. Oil & gas industry insider Tom Flanagan said in the early 2000s that [settler] environmentalists joining with Indigenous people would be "an apocalyptic scenario" for oil & gas (quoted in recent book The End Of This World). But my fellow settlers need to de-center themselves to do that.
