Reading through things good people are putting onto my timeline I am really glad I put my mezuzah on the inside of my front door instead of the outside where it's supposed to go.

@emmaaum When I was deciding where to put mine I did so much research because there’s no way to put it outside without creating some sort of new physical construction (weird doorframe), and apparently it doesn’t actually have to be outside as long as it’s on the doorpost.

So ours is just inside the door on the doorpost. I don’t think we’d have any problem round here but I do think right now it’s safer for most places to be inside.

i finally figured out what i want in writing software.
two modes - one standard word processing and the other sort of like cards which can be rearranged freely but can be collapsed/expanded easily. Collapsed for big picture re-organising/moving about and expanded so it's also easy to read what's in that bit. Multiple colour-coding too.
Toggle from cards to standard for reading the whole thing through.
Trying to do this through index cards etc sort of works but adds faff.

@emmaaum Ahh, yeah I actually understand that problem pretty well. I used Scrivener for my research mostly for organizing some thoughts and data but it wasn’t so useful when it came to actually writing stuff.

My daily breakfast is very simple plain oatmeal with milk. I know I need to keep some consistency in my diet for my mental health (medication levels but also psychological I guess).

Any suggestions of a simple(!) for breakfast?

@emmaaum That’s good advice, thanks. Last year I decided not to even try because my mental health was still up and down, so if it starts to go that way this year I’ll go back to oats.

Apparently corn flakes are now OK for Conservative Jews (since 2016)!

@emmaaum I was confused (I’m nearly 50, how can I actually not know this) by the fact that the ‘corn’ in cornflakes isn’t the corn in the fields where I grew up…

Potatoes are OK, though yeah they’re not really cheap. I think as I’ve now decided to follow Sephardic rules I can have rice (brown) that should be ok if I mix with something else. But I’ll also get some potatoes too.

@emmaaum I do actually prefer potatoes to rice so if I can find some cheapish ones that could be a better option actually. And if I boil more than I need for one meal I can put the rest in the fridge for the next day.

I can imagine how that could mess you up, yeah.
