Anyone can buy stock, but to short you need to get approved for a margin account and you need to put up some collateral. Those are two big barriers that are going to block many Redditors in WSB from shorting.
Former President Trump on Sunday doubled down on his push for former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) to be prosecuted over allegations she and the other Jan. 6 committee members purposely withheld testimony and details from their investigation into the former president’s actions during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection....
A key pillar of the left’s propaganda about insurrection is to distort the truth surrounding whether Trump authorized, prior to Jan. 6, the deployment of National Guard troops to keep order on that day. The main architect of this disinformation campaign is former Congresswoman Liz Cheney.
No, that is not a key pillar. The key pillar is what we all saw LIVE on TV. When shit was going down, Trump did not immediately call in support and did not immediately tell his supporters to stop. Also, when shit was going down, the cops repeatedly had their Guard backup requests denied.
Requests for unarmed guard to manage traffic and crowds WERE filled ahead of time. The guard came in and more than doubled the available city and capitol police numbers. The problem was that requests for the guard to dial things up, when shit got bad, were delayed and denied.
IMHO, If Trump’s chief / deputy chief are to be trusted, and that’s a big “if,” and they offered to fully militarize the capital with 10,000 troops, then I think the mayor and Biden made the right pre-game call. Having a fully militarized capital, during a peaceful transfer of power, would’ve looked pretty bad and would’ve given ammo to the right’s lies about the election being some sort of sham.
100%. Although, that Linux comment thread I’m referring to seemed to be about ditching MacOS entirely, which was a weird thread to see in an Apple Enthusiast post about hackintoshes.
Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor working with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, resigned his post after a judge ruled Friday that District Attorney Fani Willis and her office may remain on the 2020 election case involving former President Donald Trump and his allies if Wade stepped aside....
This case was kind of bonkers. They’re both lawyers, so they knew the ethical risks of an employer banging their employee.
They are leading a case that is super important to the nation, and they put it all at risk. Even if this was innocent, why on earth would do this if you knew the risks better than most?
I’d argue that the main driver for all of this is the increased rollout of fiber. Companies like AT&T started broadly rolling out gigabit plans for what people were paying for sub 50 megabit cable plans. And the lines handled neighborhood network congestion better.
Comcast has to figure out how to be competitive, or they are going to get their asses handed to them.
AT&T and Comcast are both terrible companies with horrible customer service, but fiber is always going to be better than copper.
I wonder if the State of the Union was the tipping point for him. You had MTG, looking and behaving like Randy Marsh at a kid’s baseball game. That’s where the party is now.

Don’t forget how Trump expertly healed a nation struggling with racial injustice. Under his watch we had weeks of riots and fires in every major metro area in America.
Elementary school aged children in cages was also a real gem.
US Steel was also an interesting example something that arguably helped the allies win WW2. It was one of the biggest defense contractors back then and was integral to the war machine. My old house still has weird construction materials that were used instead of the metals US Steel was prioritizing for the war.
The company’s history really highlights a lot of pretty significant American moments, struggles, etc. Want to learn about America, learn about US Steel.
So far there’s subscriptions for cruise control, adaptive beams, various navigation options, apple/google integration and my favorite, dual-zone climate.
Update: Audi issued a statement noting that the upcoming 2025 A3 in the US will have “the same offer structure for Function on Demand as the previous 2024 model year.” That means only enhanced navigation with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit and adaptive cruise control will be offered as subscriptions. Dual-zone climate control and high-beam assist won’t be offered as subscriptions in the US. Specifics will be available closer to the A3’s launch in the US.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said policy differences toward Israel between her and President Biden won’t stop her from supporting him in the November general election....
President Harris is not even a possibility if the house votes to impeach Biden. The Dems have the senate majority, and the GOP would need a 2/3rds vote. Heck, they likely wouldn’t even get all of the GOP senators voting for it.
The plan was never to actually kick the guy out of office. The plan was to have a media stunt.
They only had the votes for a few short bubbles of time here and there. They had less than half the year if you added all the time up, and chunk of that was recess or with Kennedy on his deathbed.
As someone who dated a stripper in college and got to know a lot of those folks outside of work, trust me, you don’t actually want a stripper girlfriend.
Well, let’s just say that the likelihood to encounter people with a history of trauma, or atypical perspectives on intimacy, goes up.
In my case, I was dating someone that never really learned what normal displays of public affection looked like. Which created some very awkward moments for me and the people around me.
