Apparently one of my hobbies now is training YouTube’s algorithm. It keeps trying to guess what I’d like to watch, so I diligently tell it not to show me stuff from those channels.

I got a clean sweep today. Every video got rejected by me. The algo is beginning to get desperate.

I know I’ve wittered on about feeling forced into upgrading my desktop Mac before. I’m feeling it’s becoming something a little more likely to happen sooner rather than later.

I’ve attached an image which outlines my current hardware and software setup.

I’m vacillating between replacing the Mac mini with a current version, or switching to an iMac. I’d appreciate pros and cons from anyone that is more clued up on the Apple scene than me.

What I’m after is advice about specifications I need to aim for. In the past, more RAM was good, but that doesn’t seem to be the case any more. Also, any hints as to when Apple might be adding the M3 silicon to the mini range?

I think I’m coming to the same conclusion.

It’s a shame, because my i5 mini is still more than up to the task. However, security updates aren’t forthcoming, some web sites don’t like to play ball any more, and it’s getting out of step with the iPad and iPhone… . 😕

I think I’ll spec a terabyte for the internal. It’s what the current machine has, and it’s only half full after a decade. A lot of stuff only needed occasionally lives on externals, and that stuff is cheap these days.

I want to know what your Mum had as her car to get about. Wherever you are in the world, whatever time period. What vehicle did your Mum (or other maternal guardian) cherish and use and wax lyrical about?

I might be planning a little project...

My Mum had a moped, a Honda Cub I think (I'll have to dig out a photo), that was her freedom in the 70s.

@vulgalour I’m not sure if mum had much say in the choices, but she drove an Austin A40 Farina, Hillman Minx, a couple of Vauxhall Viva HBs, a Maxi, Triumph 2000, Datsun 120Y, Volvo 140 estate, Mitsubishi Colt…

After that, I lose track!

Family life, especially the bigger vehicles, ideal for camping holidays and towing a caravan.

If someone offered me a Maxi or Volvo of that vintage I’d snap their arm off!

I missed out the Yellow Peril, a Datsun 120A FII coupe. I learned to drive in that. It was the yellow paint holding all the rust together!

Good morning! Even though I’m feeling a lot better, a big source of anxiety for me is the thought of travelling anywhere by myself. So I am bravely going to Swansea on the train this morning to meet my friend. Telling myself I can absolutely do this, it’s just the journey I used to take to work, but I’m weirdly nervous. It’ll be fine, right?

When you spend ages on hold to talk to an organisation, then inform them about your wishes, you generally expect them to listen. You don’t expect them to repeat the original reason for your call, making you go through it all again.

I think this time I’ll just return the forms, marked/defaced accordingly, so they get the sodding message that way.

Morning. I had a lot of very exhausting and sometimes challenging dreams last night, so I feel like I've hardly slept. And the hose broke again, after my previous attempted fix, so I got soaked when watering the plants. My internet is still running at <1mbps. I'm not in a good mood.
