Should be 100%. After the 70s oil embargo we should have had ungodly research into nuclear, fusion, solar, and batteries. Good time to build more metros instead of asking more car lanes. We could have also kicked coal in the 80s. That’s 40 to 50 years of no political will.

someguy3,

But but but but bOtHsIdEsSaMe.

someguy3,

Because they’re not rolling it up fast enough! Can’t you see? They just have to roll it faster and preferably all the way and then I’ll get excited and help. Yup. Until then I’ll be adding ankle weights to you too. And don’t forget it’s all your fault too.

someguy3,

Chips act, green energy, union empowerment, student debt, marijuana reform, etc etc etc. Anyone that says Biden isn’t doing anything is wilfully ignorant.

someguy3, (edited )

You’re crying that it’s not legal yet. Let’s forget that he asked dea to look at rescheduling it and that he forgave federal possession convictions.

You’re crying he only did what he could and forgave debt and hasn’t gotten around to a Herculean overhaul of the entire post secondary system.

You didn’t see the follow-up with unions. I’d give the Beau of the fifth column video but they’re impossible to find.

You’re crying not novel enough, WTF. And you’re forgetting the green energy generation in the IRA.

You’re crying chips being only decent?

That was the easy stuff off the top of my head, and it’s just crying that nothing is ever good enough. Crying that it’s not fast enough. Nevermind that you’re (likely) kneecapping him with no majority in the house.

You’re exactly the character described in the top comments.

someguy3, (edited )

You’re doing exactly what the parent comments described. All you’re doing is crying when the ball is rolled as much as it can be while you’re (likely) kneecapping him because he doesn’t have a majority in the house.

someguy3,

“Send him back so I can kill him myself”?

someguy3,

Maxed out.

someguy3,

Different issue, but I’ll do another LPT.

LPT: For calcium buildup, turn off the water, flush, them pour lots of vinegar through the overflow pipe - which goes through the siphon jet into the bowl. The vinegar will dissolve buildup. Let sit for hours. CLR will probably work too.

Ehhhhhh I can’t agree. When you’re pedaling it’s a completely different feel and mentality. It still feels very much like a bicycle and you belong in bike lanes.

No pedaling is a motorbike and you belong on the road.

Only exemption is for physically disabled. I think they could have no pedaling and 30 km/h just so they have access to bike lanes.

You can get electric scooters. Some country in Asia banned use of gas ones because of the pollution and noise when electric ones became feasible.

someguy3,

So I can try to see them again tonight?

r/The_Donald helped radicalize users into far-right identities and discourse – Active users on r/The_Donald increasingly used white nationalist vocabularies in their comments within three months. (journals.sagepub.com)

I know most people that were on reddit at the time are fully aware of this and won’t be surprised but don’t dismiss the findings out of hand. It’s important that studies are being conducted and the fact that the finding match our lived experience is still noteworthy.

someguy3, (edited )

Did it actually radicalize, or just take the mask off? They may have used vocabularies they always wanted to.

Using an original dataset of Reddit user posting histories from 2015–2017, I test for increases in the frequency of this far-right vocabulary.

I think there’s a lot to be discussed on the topic but I wouldn’t put much on this methodology.

someguy3,

Radicalization happens yes, it’s a question of The Donald specifically doing it. It’s not so big that many people will just randomly stumble into it like Fox (which is passive and 24/7). People have to kinda seek the sub out and engage. At that point they were probably quietly, let’s just say, racist. So I put that in the category of mask off. I know people they could do that.

someguy3,

I guess you could define radicalization like that, but I’d define it as taking regular Joe with no hate and you know radicalizing them.

Radicalization (or radicalisation) is the process by which an individual or a group comes to adopt increasingly radical views in opposition to a political, social, or religious status quo.

Yeah I think there’s a difference between radicalization and mask off.

someguy3,

I did read the portion accessible, I quoted it in my original comment.

someguy3,

Adopting is the key word actually. Mask off is revealing it.

someguy3,

Did you set that up just to have step 4?

someguy3, (edited )

But but but but but but but but but but Biden bad!!1!1

Looks like he did $15 minimum for federal workers, ran out of time, and is asking Congress to do it for everyone (you know, because he currently doesn’t have the house, you know because of votes). Lol looks like you should take your own advice and stop making excuses for yourself.

someguy3, (edited )

I addressed it. I’ll try again. The ultimate deciding factor in elections is votes. Literally votes. Election night isn’t spent tallying who raised the most money, it’s literally counting who got the most votes.

someguy3, (edited )

Ah I see you’re trying to ignore the entire Overton window point. Which is what I was talking about from the start. Votes change the Overton window dude. It’s really that simple. If you want the Overton window to change, you vote.

You’re conflating a shit ton. Do capitalists care about abortion? No. Rich donors probably didn’t really care either. Guess what changed it? Fucking votes. They picked that topic because it gets votes.

Votes determine policy and the Overton window because votes win elections.

And that is what I said: while there’s some legitimate talking point in money helping to win elections, what ultimately wins elections is, wait for it, votes. Votes are the ultimate decider for elections and yes policy.

someguy3,

I think it’s a massive forum.

I think of social media as Facebook where it’s your real name and contacts who you interact with (primarily anyway).

But this is any number of topics you can go in and out of, with a huge array of strangers that you may or may not interact with again. More links, discussion, specialities.

You can get into precise definitions to force Lemmy/Reddit into social media, but I’m still forum.
