nah the previous department heads finally managed to shimmy out of having to be chair, a thankless task that requires lots of paperwork and admin and bureaucracy, as soon as the up and coming generation of new faculty finally had the ranks they needed to meet the requirements of being department chairs

yes! and all the other tenured faculty in each department trash tasks how bad these new ones are at being chair, but nobody will say it too loudly because then maybe they'll be voluntold into chairship instead

sqh is the only one who does the paperwork required of the position and is the only one who trash talks the others where administration can hear

you just made me remember my first year calc prof who had married his grad student many years ago and everyone was like, "I mean they seem happy but like. wtf. that's creepy of him."

anyway far in the future once lbh has returned from the endless abyss (a postdoc at a predatory for-profit institution?) and bingqiu are happily married, the undergrads (junior disciples) WILL be gossiping about them until the end of time

god yes that is absolutely what I understand from grad students. maybe lbh in his white lotus era is an undergrad, and the abyss is his grad schooling at a different university - even though lbh obviously wanted sqq as his supervisor and was heartbroken when sqq rejected him. nyy and mf are sqq's grad students

did I just create a neocities page so I can have my own alternate host for my fanfic, podfic, etc? MAYBE.

I am part of the movement of returning to the days of yore!

now I just gotta figure out how to do things with it

(to be clear, I'm not taking anything off ao3, I just think it's good to not have ao3 be the be-all end-all of archiving options!)

Love this Jin Zixuan/Jiang Yanli, very skillfully written, but also the part where Yanli is like "I'm pretty sure I'm dating Zixuan, but I'm not sure I'm not dating Mianmian too," and then doesn't... quite... cut off that possibility.

@superborb I still check pinboard's "popular fandom" page every day! my number of bookmarks is in the 5 digits! I have a carefully curated tagging system that I've put untold numbers of hours into! I genuinely do not know what I will do if pinboard goes down. definitely cry though
