@lirazel I am so obsessed with Miryem/her Staryk lord omg. two powerful and capable and honour-driven people who have a wide gulf of cultural disconnect between them and who each have their own distinct goals they're working towards, who over time learn how to understand and respect the other for who they are. It's endlessly fascinating to me.

@lirazel honestly....I never really saw it personally. I know a lot of people ship miryem/wanda but my ace goggles are too strong when it comes to wanda I think lol. wanda has absolutely become part of miryem's human-world family though!

@ehyde @lirazel RIGHT. when you're a pro published author then people WILL be posting their reviews on the public internet and that's an expected part of how things work! and then you as an author get to decide how you want to handle that fact!

@geraineon yesssss the two of them mourning the man they miss, together, and maybe jy sometimes unfairly resents lc for not knowing what lin shu was like before the tragedies, and lc sometimes unfairly resents jy for not being able to convince mcs to not run off and die at the end, and both of them resent mcs for leaving them in a world that doesn't have mcs in it anymore. and then yes they have sad sex about it.

I need to improve my systems of where I keep notes for what. today I have been unable to find two separate collections of thoughts that I was SURE I'd created somewhere: a list of things I would be interested in bookbinding, and notes from the beginning of my mdzs book club reread!

@geraineon the problem is figuring out which of the many different places I might have kept the notes they might be located in - an email draft, a notes app, a document on my computer, somewhere else entirely.....I tried searching keywords in the most likely places but no luck!

@geraineon I am pretty sure the only programs I save notes into are ones I have access to on all my devices! but then who knows lol. I'm resigned at this point to re-creating

@geraineon yeah I am a person with an extremely bad memory and I rely on a variety of imperfect approaches to dealing with it, this is within operating parameters for my usual life, unfortunately!

@geraineon YES. this is why I I can't use the vegetable crisper drawers, and why all the containers I use for leftovers have to be transparent, and why I have to keep the fridge contents relatively sparse. I might have some containers of mouldy food in my fridge right now that I'm trying to pretend don't exist because I forgot about them for too long 😅

@geraineon I've actually tried keeping lists of what I have in the fridge, so I don't forget anything! but then I forget to keep the list updated lol. But I have SO many lists for other things in my life and I love them very much. lists are the best!

high on the feeling of accomplishment from finishing my first bookbinding project, and hot damn I just got a second-hand 500 sheet capacity manual paper guillotine from the internet, I am WINNING, I am ready to bind SO MANY BOOKS

next step: go to the local indie art-shop and get them to special order me some rice paper so I can make better book cloth next time. and also probably special order a bunch of other types of paper also lol

I finished my first book-binding project! I'm so excited and proud!!! I know several things I'll do differently next time, but despite some wonkiness I think these books are beautiful.

The story bound within them is Suradanna and the Sea by the wonderful @rebeccafraimow which you can read at https://rebeccafraimow.com/2023/08/20/suradanna-and-the-sea/

It's a wonderful novella and I knew it had to be the first thing I bind. I made one folio edition and one quarto edition, because I wanted to try both sizes to see how they worked. I'm going to be sending one copy to the author and I will be keeping the other copy for myself.
