So my company decided to migrate office suite and email etc to Microsoft365. Whatever. But for 2FA login they decided to disable the option to choose “any authenticator” and force Microsoft Authenticator on the (private) phones of both employees and volunteers. Is there any valid reason why they would do this, like it’s...
Your employer might use MS Authenticator but still let you do call or SMS 2FA. If you use a VOIP number, it won’t be vulnerable to SIM card swapping attacks.
The same people claiming that Hamas uses human shields in Gaza claimed the Taliban used human shields in Afghanistan, claimed Saddam used human shields in Iraq, claimed the Viet Cong used human shields in Vietnam, etc. It’s just a “Look what you made me do” excuse for the occupying force killing innocent people.

The carnage caused by Israeli bombings of Beirut was regularly highlighted on the nightly news, causing reactions within the Reagan administration that cut across the usual conservative-pragmatist divisions. The speechwriters were appalled; one of them, Landon Parvin, refused to write remarks for Reagan when Begin visited the White House for a chilly visit in June. On August 12, after Israeli planes had bombed Beirut for eleven consecutive hours, Deaver told Reagan he couldn’t continue to be part of “the killing of children” and intended to resign. Shultz and Clark had been sending similar signals to Reagan, albeit more diplomatically.
Reagan, also disgusted at the bombings, took the unusual step of calling Begin. “Menachem, this is a holocaust,” he told him.
In a voice that the aide who monitored the conversation said was “dripping with sarcasm,” Begin replied: “Mr. President, I think I know what a holocaust is.” But Reagan persisted. Begin called back twenty minutes later to say he had given the order to stop the bombings. After he hung up the phone, Reagan said to Deaver, “I didn’t know I had that kind of power.”
As Biden’s colleagues “grilled” Begin over Israel’s disproportionate use of force, including by targeting civilians with cluster bomb munitions, Begin said Biden “rose and delivered a very impassioned speech” defending the invasion. Begin said he was shocked at how passionately Biden supported Israel’s invasion when Biden “said he would go even further than Israel, adding that he’d forcefully fend off anyone who sought to invade his country, even if that meant killing women or children.”
I have had good results with Kdenlive. If you’re a professional, you might choose something else, but this is a question about noob-friendly video editing software
All of the password managers they listed store your passwords on their servers, and you’re supposed to hope that their encryption is good enough that the hackers won’t decrypt your password the next time they get hacked (like LastPass, for example).
KeePassXC doesn’t store passwords in any “cloud”, it’s on your computer/phone only and nowhere else. It’s also FOSS
Firefox Beta is for anyone who wants to use a version 1 month ahead of the latest stable Firefox version, and AFAIK it doesn’t have more telemetry than stable Firefox versions.
Regardless, you can disable telemetry and studies by setting some preferences in about:config (or a user.js file):
Not necessarily. Sure it doesn’t perform as well as a high-end crypto miner, but it performs better than a lot of desktop PCs that use way more power than it.
But desktop builds won’t use less electricity. I use a desktop replacement gaming laptop at home, without taking it anywhere, because it consumes less power
Does the webp vulnerability (CVE-2023-4863) affect the Bromite browser?
Yes
I’d love to switch to another browser but to transfer all my data would require root access, which could damage my pixel 6. So I’m kinda stuck in a jam.
Transferring your data to Firefox does not require root access
For more tech-savvy users, sure. But I thought you were looking for a way for less technical users to share scrubbed URLs. You’re not going to get the less technical users out there who share URLs to add a URL tracking filter list to uBlock Origin, but getting them to install ClearURLs is within the realm of possibility.
i know this is extremely unlikely to happen, but imagine if both mozilla and google decides to remove adblock extensions in every way, if that happens, would you still pirate?...
However Meta decides to serve ads on Threads or Threads content. Whatever it takes, Threads will definitely do ads, as they are owned by an advertising company, but we don’t really know how LemmyWorld will do ads until those ads are live.
