stratosfear,

FLAC’s on NAS. Bluesound Node to stereo system, controlled with Roon. PlexAmp when remote.

Tidal is actually giving their lossless plan to their lower tier subscription, just got an email about it. Pretty nice.

stratosfear,

Gave Helldiver’s 2 a whirl but it’s shitty with MKB. If you’re willing to play a shooter with a controller it’s probably pretty good.

DRG Survivors is fun but my first autoshooter, so kind of weird. Great to play with one hand tho. This one I do play with a gamepad ha

stratosfear,

I think the dance dance revolution mechanic is trash, but I could accept it more with a gamepad. And the movement and animation is absolutely intended for an analog stick, so when that translates to a “D-pad” (wasd) it feels janky. But I haven’t actually played it with a gamepad so I really can’t say, but I think it’s not good on kbm.

stratosfear,

You don’t need to, but when you have to look for work and are on LI they are there

stratosfear,

With win10 you should be able to click the small text to get a local account but yeah I think with newer win11 installers you have to be off the internet for a local account. And then when you do log in with your MS account to save your license (important when using a Win7 OEM key to license win10) it would convert your profile to online, and then you had to “do steps” to put it back to local. Annoying af

stratosfear,

Also prompting me to download a .bin

stratosfear,

I am on Android mobile. Firefox only prompts to download downloadfile.bin. Duckduckgo browser actually opens the file contents. I’ll post it here, since I’m getting it from public I’m hoping that’s okay. This is the content…

stratosfear,

It’s working now. I did reset my router today to get IPv6 working for me, so unsure if that changed anything or in was on your end, but FYI.

stratosfear,

Software encoding (Your CPU) will always provide better quality than your GPU, especially if your GPU is older. Sadly it’s much slower but beware what you’re using to encode (video tab, drop down with the 264, 265, 10bit, etc. stuff. NVENC would be an nvidia GPU)

stratosfear,

The best part…

After hearing the sound of the acorn, the deputy reported that he also felt a “tingliness” all along the side of his body. He then said his “legs just give out” and he fell to the ground, assuming that he had been seriously injured by something.

We experience what we believe… Our minds are so incredibly capable of deceiving us.

stratosfear,

Who is they and why would they need to spread a myth that skin contact with fentanyl would cause an OD?

stratosfear,

Drug addicts would be the first to know skin contact with fentanyl doesn’t cause an OD so yeah not sure that’s the answer…

But, even if they didn’t know I don’t see how drug addicts thinking skin contact with fentanyl causing an OD enables cops to abuse them more?

stratosfear,

This is so ignorantly reductionist

stratosfear,

You do realize that Putin invading Ukraine and Israel invading Palestine are two completely separate events and topics, right? If you’re trying to draw imperial correlations regarding separate world events maybe you should, I dunno, be a little more articulate.

stratosfear,

stratosfear,

I don’t think it’s a problem for the guy who answered your question

stratosfear,

Well I won’t fault you for being an optimist.

stratosfear,

Yeah, I accept that explanation for 2A. And, arguably by definition the well regulated would not be regulated by the government, otherwise the spirit of the whole amendment is meaningless. I’m definitely not ignorant enough to say guns should be banned, if at least for the simple fact we’ll be able to 3D print our own in a very short amount of time. Not to excuse the “liberals” (going back to your original comment and my question), being primarily Democrats and as politicians trying to do something about mass shootings for sure they go to gun regulation. And it absolutely doesn’t help that Republicans seemingly don’t have any solutions to the problem, including making access to healthcare overly complicated. If we go back to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness then people with mental struggles who turn to gun violence as an answer, they deserve the opportunity to get the easiest and free access to mental healthcare. So if we’re not going to regulate guns (which I’m not even condoning per my 3D printer point) then the alternative course must be healthcare, and the “opposite of liberals” don’t seem to even discuss this beyond “no.” So I’d say both sides suck on this one too haha

I did acquiesce that some liberals were involved in the patriot act… :)

And yeah, thanks for answering the question. I try to have a meaningful conversation here, otherwise I may as well just look at cat pics.

stratosfear,

Well, the Tablo that I have is intended to be used over a local IP network. It doesn’t connect directly to a TV. Which implies you need a smart TV that can install the Tablo app (which is no issue for any modern TV) and is connected to the network. Or some screen to watch it on, like an ipad. Which, is a feature of the device for sure, as you can use it on multiple TVs in the house, or any screen for that matter, including a computer. Assuming they are connected with a network.

Quality internet is not required. You do get the TV guide content over the internet but I’d imagine with a slow or unreliable connection it would still download fine when it’s able.

But you need a local network that will handle the “network centric” design of the Tablo. The Jetpack is that little cell service device that creates a WiFi signal to give internet access to a limited number of close devices. It would likely not be suitable, especially for long term use. So unless they had the necessary equipment to create a local network (most people call this their router, which I’m assuming they do not have with the jetpack) the network “centric” Tablo may not be the right choice.

I’d imagine there are OTA DVRs that plug directly into a TV… And you technically do not need the “built in” TV guide functionality, you would just need to create manual recordings. For sure an OTA DVR would be ideal for off-grid use… It doesn’t need the internet (even the tablo) but at least as far as the tablo is concerned you would need local network infrastructure most people living off-grid would not have.

And then the antenna is the other component I didn’t speak about. This can be the simple “in the window” antenna that is a flat piece of plastic and cost $20. Or can be a more complex attic antenna that connects with a coax cable to the DVR. That all just depends on the location.

All the DVR product websites provide quality documentation with a way to look up your address to determine what channels you’ll get and to figure all this out.

stratosfear,

I don’t disagree with that. And sure my mom absolutely would not have let me work at a slaughterhouse at 16 yo. But the real question here is why does ANY slaughterhouse allow a minor to work there? And, poverty I’m sure is involved. And, arguably, culture differences, as from what I gathered from the comments is she was an immigrant and arguably didn’t see anything wrong with her son working somewhere that killed chickens. Which, arguably there shouldn’t be anything wrong with that … But factory farming is intense and I don’t think appropriate for minors.
