Alright alright alright. I think I wanna look into a desktop mail client because having to open multiple browsers and tabs to check my email accounts is annoying.
What's a good recommend? I'm looking for things that leave a relatively low system footprint.
So when #MuskyTwitter was purchased I joined Mastodon, Post, Spill, Spoutible and BlueSky. Post is going belly up on 5/31. I left Spill because of members policing the way I engage on social media. If I wanted to be critiqued and criticized in my downtime I could go read my course evaluations. Now spam complaints on Mastodon?? I may need to just delete everything except the dark place. #BlackSTEM#BlackFedi#BlackTwitter#BlackMastodon#BlackFediverse#NoireSTEMinist
@karabaic@majorlinux Hi there. So in this article and the linked WSJ article, the only thieves mentioned are... actually thieves... who steal things from people. In this case, their phone. No subtlety required here. It's just "hey, this new feature is a theft-deterrent"
Also, if you're new to Major as a writer, he is often quite direct in his writing. No guessing required!
One thought I've had about the reporting and such with Gaza and everything is about 2014. That's about 10 years ago (it's less, but math is hard and time is a soup, so let's just round).
At that time, there was this wild obsession with finding "weapons of mass destruction" in Iran, North Korea, and other assorted places. /1
@thisismissem I meant 2014 here because I thought that would be a time people had better access to, but like most things, it definitely goes back a ways.
In this case, there was DEFINITELY murmurs and other nonsense like this happening back in 2004, too!
@majorlinux It's so frustrating. Like I get servers can't be forever, but surely there's a means of preserving the ability to play these games and they stay trying not to do that because... I don't even know.
@majorlinux What of what I said sounded like that?
Also, we can note that something doesn't sit right with us without having an exact blueprint for exactly which other thing might.
Additionally, the alternative for feeding information against people's consent to an algorithm that then mimics their writing voice and art would be not doing that.
It seems this notion was a non-starter, so we're here.
