What is up with magazines with really good print designs but like really basic (and even ugly) websites 😭

@luthien1126 aww that's really sad. I could forgive basic websites, but some are just downright ugly, (e.g. they use 12px font size when that's too small for the web).

But even sadder that it's cost that's the reason, because print magazines are gorgeous 😭 I frequently buy magazines only for the layouts and I used to practice replicating them in my web layouts.

@luthien1126 yes! Art direction isn't really incentivized in web design, especially since people mostly come and go for the content and utility than for the visual art. It's also free, as opposed to print being subscription/paid per issue.

I myself wanted to create an art directed website. I wanted to make my website a digital replication of a print magazine, but it takes so much effort to create and maintain.

One day though, one day…

@wilhansen i think what it means is that if you set it to normal, it cannot be used to query the container size (width and height), but you can still use it to query other style properties like font-family, color, background, etc.

Container style queries are still upcoming though if I'm correct

I finished it today! So technically Kaveh’s version is the reverse side without the heart-like part on the bottom but I’m just going with the “he put it on backwards” headcanon with my cosplay because this side is pretty and I’ve made my pronouncement 💕

The same goldwork brooch but from a centred angle. The piece is made up of different gold threads and cords
An earlier stage in the process, this shows the brooch mounted on organza in an embroidery hoop. Two parts are missing, showing the faux leather template underneath.

Hi @Tywele! I couldn't begin to figure out how to make the theme work with Dark Reader because it inlines styles into each element, and I'm relying on Bootstrap classes used by Lemmy's UI. I just created a Dark version so it wouldn't conflict with Dark Reader.
