National Press Club had a memorial event last night for former NPC president Mike Freedman, who died of cancer in September.

Mike was an executive with CBS News and UPI, journalism faculty member at Univ. of Maryland and GW University, as well as executive producer of the Kalb Report on PBS. He led NPC during the early dark days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The only photo I've taken that sits on the walls of NPC was put there by Mike, of the Washington Nationals' 2019 World Series trophy, and Mike named me winner of the Bernie Krug award in 2020, the highest honor given for volunteer service.

A rabid baseball fan, the Nationals gave Mike a tribute on the jumbotron at the ball park after he died. Well deserved Mike.
