One of my projects was mirroring the OAPEN (Open-Access Materials) library collection, and all the ones it made sense to, I have, with over 28,000 books and 4,800 chapters from journals. It still has some metadata settling to do, but go enjoy them:
Busily spending part of my weekend enjoying one aspect of my job at the Archive - sorting through uploads of a certain type - in this case, anything calling itself a "Manual". There are hundreds of people uploading a single manual for the most obscure of things, and the style and breadth is amazing.
@cognitivegears Combination of outreach to potential sources of items to upload, sifting through the stacks for spam and materials to move to collections, digitizing various items to upload to the archive, lots of fun phone calls
I sometimes keep spam that's compelling (not on the archive, but personally) and this lawyer spam from India, I gotta say - here's a solid set of portrait shots.
@http_error_418 Normally I giggle at you "I HAVE to mention the trigger discipline" folks, but in this case, the movie CIVIL WAR (2024), I think that untrained recklessness and the menace of the scene with this character is intentional.
OK, the big experiment has begun. A ham radio group has funded the scanning of 4,000 manuals from the Great Manuals Plus Haul. Now, the experiment is - will people kick on a special link in the blog entry to help fund the other 20 PALLETS of manuals?
