As someone who was also recently looking for a multi device alternative for mihon/tachiyomi, I highly recommend Suwayomi. It’s even somewhat compatible with Mihon. It can use the same extension repos and you can restore Mihon backups in Suwayomi, which makes the migration pretty smooth.

Codeberg isn’t an entirely new forge. It’s just a well-known gitea/forgejo instance. Sourcehut would probably be a better example.

From what I’ve read you need it for Bittorrent or at least the chance of failed downloads is higher without it.

Well, only if you host it in the cloud. Not if you host it at home, for example.

If I understand it correctly, the passwords are stored encrypted, but not the additional data, like website-URLs and app-names. This way the password manager only needs to temporarily decrypt a specific password when it’s needed for auto-fill. In regards to the passwords that’s probably a bit safer than keeping all the data and the passwords unencrypted in memory. But the cost is that all the other data is stored unencrypted.

Isn’t Helium-3 mainly used for fusion reactors? So as long as fusion reactors are still just in an early prototype phase, such a mining operation is probably not really lucrative.

I think Stash should cover most of your points, except for the page-less scroll: github.com/stashapp/stashThe only other software I know for this is Porn Vault: gitlab.com/porn-vault/porn-vault

Oof. Just had a quick look at it. It’s like 90% crypto content. And lot of it are obvious scams to steal your coins.

I’m currently looking for a software to host my images and I found this table quite helpful to compare features: meichthys.github.io/foss_photo_libraries/

lemmy.world is one of the biggest instances, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the server struggles from time to time. Because of how the fediverse works, switching between local, all and subscribed doesn’t make a difference. You still access the non-local content through lemmy.world because it’s cached there.

For me, saving a post also crashes the app. But when I open the app again the post is saved. So at least the saving itself works.

Might still be worth mentioning it in case someone wants to fork it. Lemmynade is actually a fork of Lemmur.

There's one small error in the list: The community link for Memmy points to the community for Mlem.

Ich vermute, die sollen wie in anderen sozialen Netzwerken primär für zwei Dinge genutzt werden:

  1. Frühstücksfleisch. Also in erster Linie Werbung und Verknüpfungen zu Betrugsseiten.
  2. Manipulation durch Falschnachrichten.

42,5K Benutzer, aber nur 15 Kommentare und eine Pfostierung.

Just did that for my instance. Luckily it's fairly easy. Since there were no human registrations after those bots I just looked up the lowest bot id in the local_user table which was 9 and then used delete from person where id in (select person_id from local_user where id >= 9);. Thanks to the references and triggers on the table, the rest of the database was also cleaned up by that, including the local_user table.

While looking for a way to enable captchas I found out that they will remove that feature from lemmy: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2922

thatcasualgamingguy,
@thatcasualgamingguy@lemmy.nerdcore.social avatar

That would probably only slow them down. And since their main goal is to create a ton of working accounts, speed is probably not that important to them. On my own instance the bot-registrations stopped immediately after I enabled the required application.

Sorry if this has been asked, but how do I find and subscribe to communities if no one on my instance has searched for it yet?

I cant search for some communities that show up in newcommunities, and I hear that thats because no one on my instance has been to them yet. Well, how do I be the first one? I cant join by searching because it wont show up, and if I click on a link there it takes me out of the app to that communities instance, and logs me out,...

This seems to be the issue for the feature: https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues/522

thatcasualgamingguy,
@thatcasualgamingguy@lemmy.nerdcore.social avatar

Same here. I always have to search for and subscribe to new communities through a browser. And after that, I have to kill the app and open it again for the new community to show up in my list. There might be a different way to reload the community list, though. Just haven't found it, yet.

For me that only works in a browser, not in the app.

Games with multiple paths/solutions (lemm.ee)

One of the things that have always endeared me to adventure games above all other types of fiction (books, movies, etc.) is that they give the player the opportunity to shape the story and unfold it at their own pace. While some games are content to have a linear story (and no slight against that — some absolute classics have...

thatcasualgamingguy,

A game I equally loved and hated for having multiple ways the story could go was KGB. Sometimes you would lose because of a decision you made hours ago. :D
