theshatterstone54,

I can see where you’re coming from but sometimes short term fun can have negative long term consequences.

theshatterstone54,

Personally, I use bemenu and j4-dmenu-desktop.

I’d recommend you check out the my-bemenu script at .local/bin in my dots repo: gitlab.com/theshatterstone/dotfiles

theshatterstone54,

I ended up also reading this article from the dude, which I found even more interesting.

rubenerd.com/my-freebsd-laptop-with-just-tmux/

theshatterstone54,

Yeah, I’m already using cmus and have used ranger before so I’d probably stick to those myself. (or try out lf for a file manager). I also mostly do email on my phone, and don’t have a Thunderbird alternative for the terminal so I’d probably stick to just my phone for email. I’ve also tried zellij so I might consider that instead of Tmux.

theshatterstone54,

Ah, the Quick and Dirty Operating System… we meet again.

theshatterstone54,

Yup, river was quite good, but lacked a good way of configuring csd/ssd until that release. Now, it’s something I would actively recommend.

Personally, I’m a lot more excited for the future of River as Isaac Freund (the lead dev) sees it.

theshatterstone54,

I was having issues with Thunar, but that seems to be fixed now.

theshatterstone54,

Personally, I use cmus, though I’ve been looking around for alternatives also, just to see if there’s something better for me. My main issue with cmus is having to build playlists within it, instead of using m3u files. This means I have to back up both my regular playlists I use on my phone, and my cmus playlists. But I haven’t really found anything as easy to use and intuitive as cmus so far. I used to like deadbeef but I dropped it because it wasn’t available everywhere and I wasn’t the biggest fan of its interface.

theshatterstone54,

You can change them. It’s what I did.

theshatterstone54,

I mean, it’s DJWare, so I know it will be good, but okay.

theshatterstone54,

Is it updated faster than BraveNewPipe?

Cuz BraveNewPipe has sponsorblock and return YT dislike built-in.

theshatterstone54,

Holy! $1,600 worth of games for $8?

I’m not the paying type, but this is a very interesting offer and I’m considering it.

theshatterstone54,

I saw 1 at $4 that I liked, but I’ll probably find another one I like for $4 or so, which means all the otger games are essentially free.

theshatterstone54,

Of course it wasn’t going to be released on the first target release date! It’s Fedora, it’s basically tradition at this point.

theshatterstone54,

Any reason why yould have it in .bash_local over .bashrc? I use zsh but even when I used bash or fish, I’d add to my $PATH via .bashrc and config.fish respectively.

Has anyone here encountered a problem with Fitgirl repacks where it keeps going until it fills your drive?

I was trying to install a repack of The Sims 3 with all of the expansions, full size about 31 GB, onto a drive that had about 300 GB of free space. Left it running overnight, woke up to my computer completely locked up because the repack had filled every single bit on my SSD....

theshatterstone54,

What do you do when the check is not there for some games? Is there an alternative because the bug you’re describing is a thing I’ve been dealing with on many occasions

theshatterstone54,

So…

2.0 was a switch to QT6

and

2.1.0 brings us Wayland? Very exciting! Definitely will check it out (as a full session), as I always pick apps from either XFCE or LXQT for my tiling window manager set up. I’ve been using Thunar lately, though I’m open to switching back to pcmanfm if I want to.

theshatterstone54,

Indeed. They’re solving our issues for us! Go enshittification!

theshatterstone54,

Okay, but is there some sort of a roadmap/schedule/ETA for Thunderbird on Android?

theshatterstone54,

No joke, that’s the main reason I’ve barely played it. Even with the built in tutorial and with Distrotube’s guide on 0AD I still feel a bit lost and overwhelmed

theshatterstone54,

After spending hours on shooters and strategy games involving a lot of thought, it’s nice to hop into something therapeutic like powerwash simulator. I found it to be one of my favourite games, alongside the Portal series and Superluminal.

theshatterstone54,

I tried it but it was too much for me. It’s not my thing, but it’s a very interesting and very cool project and I have nothing but respect towards the Bedrock Linux team for what they have achieved.

theshatterstone54,

Yeah, it was about my concerns with Void.

theshatterstone54,

This blog is what got me to give Void a proper shot! Currently on it and I’m enjoying it!
