I missed the Golden Era of Phil and Friends, but I did happen to be working in San Fran in 2015 and got to Terrapin Crossroads, I agree that the scene was wonderful. Small, friendly, chill.

Saw him, also in 2015 in NYC with Stanley Jordan and J Kadlicec.

It was nice, JK knew how to guide the material back around when needed, SJ knew how to do that SJ thing.

I have some delta ticket refunds that are going to expire if I do not use them.

As much as I think the sphere, and vegas, and dead music are a bad combo.

Some old good friends are going in July, and it would be nice to see them.

You can make a vegas trip nice by adding a day at Red Rocks, by just driving out to the desert.

We went "meteorite hunting" once which is really just walking around a salt flat looking for rocks, and it is great silent fun.

Or I could fly to Seattle, visit some gardens and nurseries, and bring back a bunch of plants like rhododendrons that are hard to purchase here.

A suitcase full of plants, or fish for steelhead or something,

Here's my fedi advice

Unfollow any and all of the super booster accounts. Build your feed organically.

I'm not sure why exactly, but it worked well for me. For one thing the "look at me senpai" energy around some of their followers is very Twitter style parasocial. And they're just subbing for an algo.

If you rely on them for most of your TL, do this first: follow anyone interesting that they boost for a week, then unfollow. It's easy.

If you don't want to, ok. Don't bother arguing with me

I purged my feed of the accounts with many followers-followees.

Also I moved from the "always followback" rule, to only followback the little people.

Have any of you ever used, rented or purchased one of them there powered wheelbarrows?

I have tons of woodchips to move on steep terrain. Not so steep that a strong 24 year old couldn't handle it.

So are those things better than a strong 24 year old?

There are battery powered ones, and gas ones.

I should share a picture of my wood chip mountain, it is hilarious.

I told the arborists they can dump in my city lot that is basically a ravine. And they do, a LOT !!

The soil is clay, and I am trying to grow rhododendrons, so I need all the mulch and organic matter I can get.

But it is pretty funny. I think the foxes may have dug a test den in one spot so I leave that alone.

The box turtles think it is hibernation heaven.

I dunno man, ever since 1977 turtles everywhere have cast off the yokes and are no longer beasts of burden, now they mostly dance, and play tambourines (poorly, they have no hips)

The son who avoided a TBI this morning has delivered! As promised, Cupcake is on her back in play-off form taking full advantage of the perfect combination of full sun, perfect temperatures, and a cool breeze.

Pinchy is definitely over-performing in her favorite indoor nap spot. She's typically in a tight curl, so the full extension curl with chin perched on paws is a high degree of difficulty and a real stretch for her.

I watch a lot of TV while sitting with my Mom.

Happy Mothers Day everyone.

Hitting the dregs with Martha Stewarts latest Garden Series.

OMG, it is like an access TV show at times. Obviously she is not taking much outside advice.

It is a lot like, "rich eccentric lady plays around with money and land"

She discussed the price of mahogany for raised garden beds !!

Her friends, are.. well they want the advertising, or the $$

It is not all bad, but enough bad to make it fun.

I was thinking about "men's" magazines, and although some of them seemed to focus on upper class themes, like playboy.

They were for the most part liberal-ish.

Have you fallen down a Kliban hole? He did Playboy stuff for a stretch.

It strikes me as odd that he doesn't get the respect he should.

To me, in my narrow view of what I experienced, Kliban foreshadowed, absurd popular comics that came later.
