the geese have learned to block traffic. on a 25-30mph residential street, most drivers will slow down and stop to let a goose cross the road - if not out of compassion, because hitting an animal that large will probably mess up your car. yesterday we observed 3 instances of geese stepping in front of traffic, and instead of crossing the street, standing still or sitting down in the road until the cars were forced to go around them. the geese have discovered their power and i can't wait to see what they do with it next

i agree with a lot of amw's statement on the value of analyzing the tactics and strategy of non-anarchist revolutionary forces. i often feel a disconnect in the way discussions of anarchism in the US approach this. i want to develop an understanding of those movements in the context of their history and circumstances rather than just endorsing/condemning.

i just don't think that simply republishing press releases, with no further context or discussion, accomplishes that.

also, as far as i can tell, the woman banned from tumblr (after wishing explosion on the ceo) was the target of a transmisogynistic harassment campaign involving threats far more credible and actionable than a vision of an exploding car full of hammers, which the site's moderators did nothing to address

my friends who stopped wearing masks are getting covid again. i'm angry at a lot of people but still, despite everything, what i don't know how to say - when i tell you to wear a mask it's not about guilt or shame. please wear a mask because i love you. please wear a mask because i don't want to lose you.

btw. save your old prescription meds you don't take anymore. use all the available refills even if you don't need them immediately (if you can afford it, if your insurance covers it, if your doctor won't be weird about it). if you don't want it in the house for personal safety reasons, see if a trusted friend wants to hold onto it. store meds away from sunlight and temperature extremes and they'll probably be good well past the expiration dates.

I feel very silly thinking back on all the times (before covid) I showed up to things I couldn’t reschedule while running a fever and coughing. the sickest I’ve ever been started with pneumonia I caught on a plane. it never occurred to me I could wear a mask in these situations! I do not understand how more people are not excited about this revelation and I am NOT interested in returning to “hey everybody I have a cold. I’m going to give you my cold now. sorry”
