Oh damn, caught a nasty one. Was trying to use chromium for something but audio was not playing at all, no errors, just clicking play on things like r-a-d.io gave a "fuck you"...

Was checking if it was wayland or something like that that broke it... (And no, it doesn't open in #wayland, transparent window with the beautiful mouse dragging effect on the screen), but it was nothing related to it...

It seems that the problem was the #plasma integration extension that hijacks things and broke!!

Damn, this has been on my todo list for a while. I managed to put running with a compositor instead of the xorg one. And after a few hours of attempts managed to make the theme scale too instead of being super small 🎉.

It seems a bunch of themes I tried from the repos crash the thing, by moving the mouse to the borders it starts drawing black squares and loses all input from then on (sddm-nordic-theme-git for example), but slice and breeze themes seem to work.

Yes it's a covid! Haven't heard about this in a while. Nobody talks about it. It's still out there. And it hurts a lot 😭.

Let's see if I don't develop anything bad or strange.

I praise the drugs cocktail 🙏 and hope to at least stop the headache. Would be good if bones hurt less too.

I had suspected today before on another try but just confirmed the absolute shit that it just made on my laptop.

When turning on dns over tls on systemd-resolved be aware that it will fuck over when trying to connect to public wifi spots that have the common captive portals where only protocol allowed to work before logging in is plain dns and plain http.

You will have to turn off dns over tls!

Been having fun with #gleamlang , made more than a hundred lines of code with it. It's really refreshing having a language that compiles fast and takes barely any memory and cpu to run.

Not having to care about the build tool too much, hundreds of compiler flags, language versions, compiler plugins, formatting plugins, or any of the usual things that fill the brain I'm used to in #scala is a huge breath of fresh air.

Not having to care about the JVM is amazing.

For the last 2 weeks I've been trying to play a little with , migrated an old exercise I did from scala 2 to it. It's painful to use intellij in its current state, even using the eap plugin version or wtv it is. Seriously considering putting things back into scala 2, at least that works as expected in the IDE.

Problems include not autocompleting things, taking long time to show methods available, not showing inferred types, variables and types marked as not use when they are, etc...

Now that I finally have a proper fiber internet connection I need to focus properly to look for a job. No more excuses.

The interview I did on friday apparently wasn't good enough and "they decided to proceed with other candidates" so back to the wheel again 😔.

Let's see how January and February goes for the market and if job opportunities appear or not.

cool thing about playing with is that it actually runs on my laptop without making it hot and putting the fans in crazy mode.

compiles and runs fast, few MBs of memory.

creating a binary with gleescript creates a script that makes the application run on erlang vm and it works without much ceremony and again without killing my memory and taking all my swap space.

it's a nice change of pace compared to the usual that can't run without 4 jvm processes killing the machine 🙄

the fact that there are people out there in the world that learn and spread the notation for math ranges with lower bound, up to some upper bound with some math syntax like [lb, ub) is very deeply disturbing and upsetting.

the first time I read someone online using that I was very confused and thought it was a typo.

the clearly superior syntax and objectively better (cuz was the one I learned :blobcat: ) is [lb, ub[.

It's clear and unambiguous.
