Catholicism was a huge part of it. The KKK was extremely active in New England, particularly in Maine, against the French-Canadian diaspora. At one point over 20% of the population were card carrying members, more than Alabama or Mississippi! The anti french laws it established were repealed only in the 60s.

Dash-to-Plank specifically says it does not support Wayland. Plank has had an issue open about Wayland support since 2016, and they still haven’t done it. Can’t blame Wayland.

What’s your use case for Plank? My guess is you’re using GNOME wrong.

I can almost guarantee you that very few (if any) service industry jobs are paying $34.95 per hour.

Even if it was, it means that two full time average salaries aren’t even enough to buy a less than average dwelling in any Canadian cities.

Yeah it’s only because you might spend less time in the basement. In fact they tend to be the worst because they often capture the gas through the sumps and other intrusions, and tend to be less well ventilated. Moreover radon, in North America, is worse in places that build with basement more often (due to lower frost lines). My understanding is that radon comes from uranium rock fragments that were transported down from the arctic via glacier movement.

I didn’t make such statement, don’t strawman me into this fight. But OP asked why you would need to exit out of it. Well maybe because one needs to do other things than edit text. Which wouldn’t be the case if one were to use emacs.

I’ve been coding since I was around 12. I’ve been doing it for around three decades now…

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I work for a company that has a pretty strick no assholes policy. We’ve passed on a number of “rock stars” because we knew how personally toxic they were to a team. I do some of the culture fit (which we do first) and tech interviews.

We don’t care all that much if you get it right or wrong. I mean if it’s all wrong and the candidate has no clue why sure. But sometimes candidates get stressed out being on display, being pressed for time, trying to come up with the most optimized answer instead of just completing. If it’s all wrong and the candidate can tell me exactly why and what they’d need to do to get it right, that’s mostly a pass for us.

Ultimately wanna see a) how you think, what is your thought process and b) that you can grow.

People have big egos. I’ve been in similiar situations as OP where the owner/CTO wrote a lot of the legacy code and weren’t particularly receptive to criticism. No acknowledgement either when said criticism turned out to be a client facing vulnerability later on.

You should be good to go. Make sure vfio is loaded in the modules-load.d

This is probably not complete, but it should get you pretty far into allowing you to add the pci device in the hardware config of your vm
