I've been making my Quickemu project macOS-compatible; meaning it can run on a macOS host 🍎

Quickemu is a project to quickly create and run optimised Linux, macOS and Windows virtual machines 👍

Here's my test case in action:

This is NixOS ❄️ running a virtual machine of macOS Ventura 🍏 via Quickemu, which is running a virtual machine of Aline Linux 🐧 via Quickemu #linux #qemu

I have discovered the wonderful world of USB 9-pin header adapters 🤓

I'm using these 2xUSB-C adapters to mount 2 small radios 📻 inside my workstations.

I'm also planning to use similar adapters to place wireless mouse/keyboard dongles inside their dedicated computers.

Next up is one of my DIY 🛠️ single slot high capacity storage arrays 💾that I use as internal backup targets.

These use single slots PCIe adapters from Sedna with a pair of M.2 SATA SSDs. On typical consumer motherboards the single slots are on the chipset and shared with USB, WiFi/LAN. Using SATA SSDs on a 1xPCIe helps prevent I/O to this storage from contending with other peripherals and negates the need for power and SATA cables 🔌

Cyberpunk 2077 is now also running at 3440x1440 60fps with the Ultra preset 😁

I tightened up the memory timings on my Ryzen 5700G and ASUS B550I Aorus Pro AX motherboard. Now running DDR4 3800Mt/s at CL17-21-21-39-80, up from 3466Mt/s 📈

I also disabled AMD CPU fTPM (known to introduce latency with the Linux kernel), TSME (memory encryption) and Data Scrambling in the BIOS.

Without the frame rate caps it hits 87fps average ✨ so the 5700G is more than capable; no upgrade required 👍
