Weird that we can't explain a few kubic meters heavy radioactive waste from the NL each year but somehow we can justify pumping our Atmosphere full with toxics each day with our burning engines
"Oehhh all things radioactive are soo scary, we can't setup our grandkids with that" is what they say
But apparently they are totally fine with ruining the climate and expel toxic next where you breath
Until we have something better like fusion we should stick with fission also, but what do I know!🤷
@stux it boils my head than the "Green" Party in the UK are anti-nuclear. Sure, ideally we wouldn't have nuclear but we needed to be much, much, further ahead on other renewable power sources by now. Nuclear offers a relatively clean solution albeit with a different but pretty manageable downside.
Given the choice between sealed off nuclear waste for a few millennium or the end of current civilisation I'll take option 1.
Five years ago, it was easy to go online to buy a dress for my wife.
All I had to do was search for “Asian women fashion” and I could get some ideas.
Now you can’t just put “Asian women” because you get photos of literal children. So you have to put “mature Asian women” in the search.
And you can’t just put “fashion” because now you just get recommendations at the top of the page from the same vanilla shops that show white women as models. That won’t work if the woman you’re looking to buy for isn’t white.
So I try to be hyper specific. I have to type “summer dress mature asian woman”. And that’s when the A.I. buffoonery starts because apparently when you’re that hyper specific, it’s near-identical to a prompt for an A.I. generative image.
As for why I don’t just do a search on Amazon? Because when I input those search terms on Amazon, I don’t get every day wear. I get costumes for white people to cosplay.
@atomicpoet while I enjoy all (well much.. well some) of the technical progress in the last few decades I do miss how wholesome and genuine the internet was in the mid to late 90s
@atomicpoet I didn't go all-in on emulsion / soft-mods because of disc-rot originally but it's certainly an issue I'm comfortable not having to wrangle with.
People make a lot of noise about the importance of physical media, largely justified, but the message often seems to stop short of thinking long term.
Physical media is good, DRM-free digital copies we can forever leap from harddrive to harddrive indefinitely is far far better.
Not that that's ever going to be the case for consoles..😒
@stux I don't think Emby is open source any more as suggested on your link, there's no recent updates on their GitHub, I hear they went closer to stop people bypassing the paywall for premium. Still looks a great option, and I'm nit-picking, but wanted to be sure your page was as correct as possible☺️
@Suiseiseki isn't Jellyfin a fork from Emby? Wouldn't there need to have been a complete source available at some point for that? Genuinely interested, no snark intended (but also very tired today so ability to convey that might be impaired.. 😅)
