Anyone know any games similar to the Spyro GBA ones? Isometric collectathons? I need more like this.

I wrote an article about the 3 games and just how good they are. Imo, they're extremely underrated. I really wanna play more games similar to it but I can't find much in the way of isometric collectathons(?) at all. Looking for any suggestions. Apologies if this isn't the right spot. GBA is retro right?...

Anyone know any other games similar to the Oracle ones? Already have a few (Anodyne, Lenna's Inception), looking for more.

The Zelda games on the Game Boy and Colour are unique within the Zelda series as a whole. Strange plots, enemies, music, mystery and even gameplay plague the three games. Hell, in Link's Awakening half the enemies are straight up from Super Mario Bros. And the oracle games come with novels and feature interconnected password...

Programmer Skyfloogle, has released Red Viper, an updated virtual-boy emulator for the 3DS. (github.com)

From the github description: "A Virtual Boy emulator for the Nintendo 3DS continuing mrdanielps's work on r3Ddragon, which is itself based on Reality Boy / Red Dragon. It uses a dynamic recompiler with busywait detection and a hardware-accelerated renderer to achieve high performance on the 3DS's limited hardware."

An Argument for Web5.0 (medium.com)

I wrote an article arguing that Web1.0, 2.0 and Web3 are all incorrect and inaccurate ways to categorize the web's history. Originally I was just going to write a post about how I didn't like the term Web3 but after reading about Web1.0 and 2.0 I don't like those either. It feels way too high level and ignores that the Internet...

Over 10 years ago game studio, Steel Minions worked on a proposed a third installment in the Zool series. It was to be called Zool Planets and never picked up. (www.youtube.com)

No idea how many people here are familiar with Zool but it was an especially charming platformer for early PC gaming. I think it's more remembered on the consoles from the time but the best versions were on PC (Amiga CD32 for Zool 1, either Jaguar or CD32 for Zool 2, i gotta write a comparison of those).

I remember a gamedev complaining about this on Twitter but the outcome he came to was that he hated that Linux users submitted bug reports, stating the OS itself was broken and he refused to help any of them.

One thing that came as a culture shock for me is that I'm used to driving like 4 hours to see relatives. And this is usually several times a year. Then I heard from some Britons that they have rarely visit their relatives who are only like a hour drive away. Really messed me up the first time.

Alone: The Horror Begins, the first ever J2ME Horror game.

Alone: The Horror Begins is allegedly (more on that later) a J2ME game developed by Centrescore, a company I can barely find any information about. This company is hard to track down. After scouring their old website I still can't figure out where they were even located. I guess somewhere in the U.S.A. but even then all the info...

My search into the lost King's Field Mobile games.

King's Field is mostly known as the precursor to what ended up being the Dark Souls series. Featuring hard gameplay, unforgiving traps, weak weapons and an extremely hard difficulty and depressive setting. The KF games are also where the Moonlight Sword originates from. Personally, I love the series. I've beaten nearly all of...
