As you noticed, I had to temporarily enable DDoS protection. Someone is trying quite effectively to distract me from my activities ;p Unfortunately, this may cause some issues with the federation. I will try to cut off the traffic as soon as possible and return to normal operation. Thank you for all your support and patience! :)
Ahh, is this why I keep getting asked to prove I'm human? I wasn't sure if that was because my VPN was doing something goofy or if the site's just getting hammered with new users (like myself).
They 100% will. The sad truth is that, despite all the protest threads, there's still a lot of users who have no clue what's going on. In nearly every thread, I'll see comments from people saying that this is the first they're hearing of it.
The fact is that Reddit knows that a LOT of people have no clue about any of this, that they don't care, and that they will continue using the site on the official app and won't notice anything has changed even though the mods of all their favorite subs are being replaced with scabs.
Due to the ongoing issues with third party in Reddit, I've created this as a placeholder for those who want to continue DTG in a new place. If it comes to it then happy for the old DTG mods to contact to get this place up and running the way it was elsewhere.
Still trying to wrap my head around exactly how the fediverse works. I understand it is decentralized. Are kbin and lemmy somehow intermingled? Meaning am I able to view lemmy content here on kbin and interact with it without having to create an account on beehaw or whatever?...
Is it possible to use Jerboa or other apps if I'm using kbin? I'm still not completely sure how fediverse accounts work or what the kbin/lemmy relationship is.
Been putting most of my time between Tears of the Kingdom and Destiny 2 these days.
In Zelda, I've already finished the main game, and am just kinda exploring around all the stuff I missed and doing the side quests.
In Destiny, I haven't really touched any of this season's story stuff yet, though, just been playing in the Crucible. Haven't seen much of a Destiny community on kbin yet, but hoping one pops up soon!
Right now the user count Lemmys is comparatively tiny when held up against reddit - but the user count isn't the thing that makes a social media site, it's the engagement...
Ever since Netflix announced it would start cracking down on password sharing, the movie streaming company has received a lot of blowback from customers. But, the numbers don't lie: The unpopular move from Netflix seems to have worked in the company's favor.
I'm honestly surprised to hear this. With the massive drop in quality in Netflix-produced content, with huge swaths of their licensed content being removed every month, and with how unpopular these decisions were, I'm surprised that there's still people wanting to subscribe to Netflix in the first place.
I might want to buy it one day (maybe once the price drops). I liked Diablo 3 for situations when you come home and just feel like slaying thousands of monsters – you know those days. I had some trouble getting the gearset right, but waddled through that somehow. So, questions:...
How is the visual performance for you? I played on PS5 during the beta, and even in some very early-game areas, I was getting some major drops in quality. If there were more than ~10 enemies in the vicinity, their animations would drop to like 15 FPS while the rest of the game ran at ~60, and was looking jarringly bad. It ended up making enemies look like 2D sprites, so I'm hopeful that they improved this in the full release!
I have no interest in moderating (as I've seen how wild /r/Austin could get sometimes), but I'm glad to see the community moving over! I have a bad feeling that Reddit legitimately won't survive the next few weeks, so it's good to see that there's still a place to keep up with things around here.
Have you reached out to the subreddit mods to see if any of them are interested in joining?
It's fun seeing all the builds people do, but I'm more interested right now in what you feel your greatest accomplishment is in this game. Maybe it's not the most technically amazing moment. My favorite is just a testament to my own stubbornness....
Those contraptions make me realize that I definitely don't experiment with Zonai devices enough. The amount of actual engineering know-how going into some of the builds people make is astonishing!
Yeah, that temple really threw me for a loop. I don't even know how I ended up finding the last lock, I just kinda ran around in circles until eventually I made it to where I was supposed to be. That temple took a LOT longer than the rest for me.
Controversial free-domains registry Freenom has lost its deal with the government of Gabon after years of abuse. The government has retaken its ccTLD and will delete as many as seven million .ga domains.
That sounds like a lot, but how much content of value would be lost in this move? It sounds like most of these domains were probably being used for jokes/spam purposes, so honestly I imagine that there's some much-needed cleanup that also goes down with such a sweep.
/kbin quick update

/r/videos announces that it will be entering it's blackout early - and indefinitely - given recent events
Think this case in particular is pretty interesting. Former default subreddit and one of the largest on the site (Top 20 at least)....
New user with a few questions I guess?

What is everyone's favorite Android app for Lemmy?
Apologies if this has already been asked, I'm very new here and still learning everything....
What has everyone been playing lately?
What's everyone on /m/gaming playing lately?...
Do your part, try not to lurk!

Anyone tried Diablo 4 on PlayStation?
