What's the deal with Isreal vs. Palestine side taking in the West?

I feel like I’ve been kind of in the loop for most of the headlines regarding this confrontation. Yet somehow I can’t find it within myself to actually care about either side. It seems like both are lead by genocidal parties, hell bent on indoctrinating their populace into hating the other side. Yet at the same time people...

DaDragon,

Except that you can’t deny that Arab countries have consistently, and for a long time, been both directly invested in the destruction of Israel, and in ensuring that Palestinians believe they too have a chance of ‘winning’.

The only objective difference between the ‘win’ condition of Palestine, the complete eradication of Israel, and the inverse desire by Israel to completely remove Palestine is that Israel actually possesses the funding and has a sufficient excuse to see it through.

Unless you keep that in mind, I see no possibility of solving the conflict in a lasting way.

DaDragon,

Or Saudi Arabia. They have publicly stated that their AD systems shared information with Israel. Saudi Arabia really isn’t religious enough to care about Israel that much, at least not compared to more important goals that they can reach otherwise. Of course, they do fund various anti Israel groups, but not in any particularly heavy way that can be traced to them

DaDragon,

Isn’t Kai Shek one of the most important founders of Taiwan? Sure, he had his issues (for example, ordering the deaths of a couple folks now and again), but you cannot have modern Taiwan without him. Just like how Mao is an integral part of the shape the modern PRC took.

DaDragon,

The same way they come up in the US. We live in a globalised world, if there’s a rural US mom Facebook group spreading dumb information, people coming across it in the EU may or may not believe it, even if the medical standards between the two places are vastly different.

DaDragon,

Which is pretty much the same thing. We’re all on the same ‘platform’, even if we are individually not accessing it from the same place.

DaDragon,

It is. We are all accessing the same ‘backend’, after all. Or more specifically, the data on said back end gets synchronised between everyone, but that amounts to the same thing.

DaDragon,

Or maybe, we just stop sanctioning Russian Oil if we care so much about the environmental impact? It’s no secret that countries under sanctions will do their best to get around them. It is to be expected. This fleet of shoddy ships has been introduced because their ‘real’ ships can’t go anywhere anymore.

DaDragon,

Pepper, salt, chilli. You can also use stock cubes as spices.
In general, I’d ask what sorts of flavours you like.

DaDragon,

Apparently a bunch of videos from IDF responses have already disappeared, according to investigators. I think it’s a quote given by someone working for the ICJ, but I am unsure.

DaDragon,

I mean the article is clearly more of an opinion piece.

And I think in this specific instance, I don’t think Iran’s actions can be called fucked up. The Israelis breach several foreign treaties and bombed an embassy in a. Foreign country. That is unacceptable, no matter who you are. The fact that Iran responded in the lightest way possible (300 flying projectiles is a number that is fairly defendable against), shows, if anything, that Iran doesn’t want to get things out of control right now.

We in the west certainly do whine a lot when other countries do things we don’t like, but when our allies engage in the same, we turn a blind eye to it. None of that is a lie.

Are Iran’s actions in the last 50 years with reference to Israel inexcusable? I’d say so. Sponsoring international terrorism is questionable at best. But regardless, their response to this particular incident is, if anything, very restrained. I can only hope things stay that way.

DaDragon,

Only small nitpick is that Chinese production of higher-end quadcopter-type products requires access to Taiwanese/South Korean semiconductor products. Sure, they’ll probably switch over to the 28nm or larger stuff they can produce, but I somewhat doubt they’re particularly prepared for such a scenario

DaDragon,

It’s precisely a relevant thing to write, though. War is a cost analysis game, and depending on where the drones were headed, it might have been objectively cheaper to let a couple rockets through.

Saves both on interceptor hardware, and offers a good reason for directly striking back.

Saying what can't be said: Israel has been defeated – a total defeat (www.haaretz.com)

We’ve lost. Truth must be told. The inability to admit it encapsulates everything you need to know about Israel’s individual and mass psychology. There’s a clear, sharp, predictable reality that we should begin to fathom, to process, to understand and to draw conclusions from for the future. It’s no fun to admit that...

DaDragon,

Netanyahu is Israel. He is the current government, and he knows that his power depends on there being something convenient to distract the people. Ergo, Hamas did was Israel wants, because it is what its leader wants.

Sadly, our leaders always reflect the Nation, even if their views might not.

DaDragon,

Although with things like spices, there’s no point in measuring them anyway. Spices are almost always added to taste, so it’s easier to think in terms of ‘x hand movements with the container’.

And yes, I have actually weighed 8oz of water. Well, not specifically 8oz, but I’ve certainly weighed out water to +- a couple grams for a recipe. If a recipe is specific about contents, why would I not measure it out?

DaDragon,

I’ll nitpick that said definition is also arbitrary. Why is it 1l of water at sea level, and not molecular weight of the water? And why a Liter anyway.

Even metric units like time are somewhat arbitrary. Why is a second based on caesium frequency, and not some other element?

DaDragon,

Again, the definition ITSELF is arbitrary. The system is valid in itself much more than Imperial is, but it still has the same underlying issue. There’s no ‘base’ unit of measurement in the universe. Even if we defined measurements based on the diameter of a hydrogen atom, that would still be arbitrary. Because we could have just as easily picked helium, or lithium, or any other element.

DaDragon,

As a person with no diagnosis of any type, I too feel confused by people only having ‘a few’ interests and hobbies. If my time were not so finite, and I had the financial means, I’d be pursuing a lot of random things

DaDragon,

To be fair, the linked site does a decent job of saying what it is/does

DaDragon,

Heh, looks like the old folks are trying to keep their theories illogical!
I have to say I don’t personally think much of current gender reassignment, but it makes absolutely no sense to say that this current trend isn’t in some way aligned with ‘the lord’s plan’, should you believe in that. There are definitely people who feel better as the other sex, you’re trying to tell everyone that an all-knowing being couldn’t account for that?

DaDragon,

Maybe reach out to the smaller artists, then? I’m sure most of them aren’t opposed to sending you a file if you pay

DaDragon,

Probably should be mentioned too that there’s the very clever idea of simply repurposing existing coal power plants to run nuclear fuel. The main ‘expense’ of nuclear power plants, as I understand, is the general equipment itself, not the nuclear core. Those can be built much quicker than building an entire plant from scratch.

Star Citizen's first-person shooting is getting backpack-reloading, dynamic crosshairs, procedural recoil, and other improvements to 'bring the FPS combat to AAA standard' (www.pcgamer.com)

Well, I mean, I would have launched it first (as an AAA game), but I’m no game developer. 🤷 And neither are they, from the looks of it. Good at perpetually raking in money for himself and his family, though!

DaDragon,

Maybe because development has a high ongoing cost that they do not have any other product to take up? Star citizen has a fairly large scope, and the fact that they have even gotten to the point where a fairly high number of gameplay loops are fully integrated is quite impressive. If you look at their ship designs, for example, you can see just how much care was put into a lot of the designs (see the architectural reviews, for example)

DaDragon,

Lawsuits for what? They never promised any customer that they would immediately deliver a working end product. As far as I can make out, they offer early access to an in-development product, with your purchase going toward funding development. It’s more akin to a donation with strings (access to the product).

DaDragon,

I’ve literally never paid for Star Citizen. Not sure how I’m supposed to be a sweaty fanboy…

It’s a large scoped game, and from what I’ve seen, they’ve slowly been turning it into an incredibly feature-filled game that goes beyond the scope of what most other games deliver.
