I like lists and spreadsheets.

I made one spreadsheet for going through dating profiles in OKCupid.
I don't remember many details from it anymore - maybe my current girlfriend I've been with for more than a year now was the about 200-300th profile I crashed upon. And maybe there was a 15% chance that a profile I liked answered my message once and never again.

Finding a partner may also need persistence.
I was determined enough to find someone beside me. I worked with my goal and with that spreadsheet for months, having pauses here and there.
Why the spreadsheet? Cos (I like 'em plus) I wanted to know and MEASURE, how much work my goal needed to for it to be accomplished (in my case, under these stars and circumstances).
(I didn't pay for the service.)

I guess it gets down to whatever whoever is ready to do to reach their Goal X.

Of course - in this case - it could require much less work to find a one-night stand partner than a serious relationship partner.

.

And - Online dating isn't the only option!
If you get tired of the digital files and the algorithms and the profiles, go outside and meet new folks!

Well, not every person out there do questionable actions (just) to get rich.
I am also happy that we are getting more and more environment-helping services.

I as well as some other "insignificant" individuals still try to carry some light into the darkness, but it may be futile when compared to all the wrong-doings some people create...but I won't give up, nevertheless. I'll carry on, trying.

Sometimes it can get the opposite effect.

(I'm a straight male) At times it might be easier to watch the male equivalent being around than the female one - at least the male equivalent wouldn't risk me getting aroused too often 😂 That can be stressful too!

When I curse, maybe 98% of the time the reason is just making something I say funnier (or trying to make anyway).

Maybe 3% of the time when I curse because there's something awful going on, I use the f-word.
I need to be reeeallly pissed to slip that one out!

EDIT:
I once heard about a research. Two guys had their hand put in ice. The other one swore lots, the other one less often.
They learned that the person who curses less often gets to release more stress through cursing than the other.

Confusing, eh?

98 out of 100 curses would be to make something more funny.

Now take that 2 that are left. From THAT 2% left, I use the f-word maybe in 3 out of 100 cases 😁

So, in the end, the chance of an f-word would be something closer to 0,06% (if I did my math correctly)

There are many opportunities, in work as well.
Yes, some are riskier than others, but it's always a better idea to search for a more fun work that pays decent than burn out on a wrong-type of work and suffer its consequences.

I wonder would one reason be that if "the most" of the community is there, it's just better to be there with the folks and the content rather than take a leap to a much smaller place and feel small or lonely or something like that...

(I haven't used kbin/lemmy for more than an hour - seeing whether this is a new place to stay)
