MOSCOW, July 30 (Reuters) - Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who has sometimes raised the spectre of a nuclear conflict over Ukraine, said on Sunday that Moscow would have to use a nuclear weapon if Kyiv's ongoing counter-offensive was a success.
The problem is that it's obvious by now that Russia can't match Nato in this fight with conventional weapons. So from their perspective they probably don't see any other option at this point. They can't win a conventional war with Nato that's certain. They probably can't win a nuclear war with Nato either but there is at least some degree of uncertainty in that. It's a choice between zero percent chance of winning and a non zero chance of winning.
I am of course presuming all diplomatic avenues are off the table at this point.

Languages on the rise like Rust and Go are being quite vocal against inheritance and many engineers seem to agree. Why? And is it the fall of inheritance?
Considering most of the lines of code in the world are written in java, C#, C++ etc it's pretty hilarious to claim that OOP and inheritance are dead.
As for go if you want to see what a large go codebase looks like go look at the kubernetes source code one day. Get back to me when you are done recovering from non stop puking.
Actor Michael Imperioli has something to say about the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling in favor of a Christian web designer who refuses to create websites to celebrate same-sex weddings.
Except for the fact that nobody was actually asking her to do a website for gay couple. The client she named in the suit isn't gay and is already marries and is a web designer.
It was a bullshit case put in front of the supreme court just so they can attack gay people again. The supreme court wants to disenfranchise gays, trans, women and other minorities.
The White House cautiously endorsed the idea of studying how to block sunlight from hitting Earth’s surface as a way to limit global warming in a congressionally mandated report that could help bring efforts once confined to science fiction into the realm of legitimate debate.
The justices settled a question left open in 2018: whether businesses open to the public and engaged in expression may refuse to serve customers based on religious convictions.
There was no web design business. There was no gay client asking for a super gay wedding website. The supposed client didn't even know about the case and is not gay.
The supreme court took on a hypothetical case and used it to make gays second class citizens.
It's important to note that this was examining a state law, so it does depend on the state, but in Colorado for instance, a bar could still absolutely not have a "No Blacks" sign.
Why not? Why isn't a sign an expression of free speech?
