I think what separates us from people like him, is that we can be empathetic about a situation. We can see human suffering and be like "Yea, that sucks"

He is clearly unwell and should be getting help, not doing press conferences and making political decisions.

you people love to bring up all the time

If you willingly typed in the web address to this server, you are part of the "You people".

Lmao how is it misinformation?

It draws a conclusion that is false. The most notable logical fallacy of this is the old campaign during WWII where propaganda posters were put up that said "If you ride alone, you ride with Hitler."

Obviously, no one in WWII was doing that, but America needed gas and oil during war time, it worked to guilt people in drawing a conclusion when the premise was false to begin with.

He didn’t make any claims about risk compared to getting covid.

Then why remove the information? If I was making an argument that was based on a scientific method, I would want more information that disproved my claim, not removing them.

HuddaBudda,
HuddaBudda avatar

My question is why do you assume that the default conclusion to be “and therefore the vaccine is worse than the disease” instead of “and therefore we should focus on the safety of vaccines recommended for literally billions of people worldwide”.

I will give you that, I don't think it is wrong to ask questions about health safety, that being said, I don't think people understand what things like MRNa have done to speed up the medicine industry. Or what it will do going forward.

We are going to see cures for cancers using this method.

So do the populace have a point? Of course. Safety should be the backbone of science.

Does that mean the vaccine is unsafe because we can produce it faster? Not at all. That is progress. it means humans are getting better at fighting these kind of diseases.

Because it isn’t relevant to the claim. Would you consider it reasonable to (mind the dated reference, it’s an easy example) go under a tweet about the 737 max being grounded to tell everyone that car accidents are more prevalent?

It might be a footnote, but it is relevant to the science observer who is trying to take your safety question seriously. That means looking at all facts, even the ones that are deemed "pointless" or "Inappropriate" by most people.

Information is how we understand conclusions. And when information is hidden the conclusion has a chance of being wrong.

Which is not fair to you or me who just want to know the truth. Even if it is an ugly truth.

12 million down from 20 million. Because his first task for finding voters in the US was going on a world tour outside the US.

And also trying to kick the biggest donor in Florida in the nuts: Disney

I think it is more denial then anything. They think that the status quo will go on once trump is in prison.

So they are trying to save the republican party, not realizing that there is no more Republican party.

There is MAGA and there are RINOs. And RINOs only have 30% of the republican voters. With Pence only getting 3% of them.

Supposedly it didn't start off as bleach. It was a component of bleach but didn't activate unless you mixed it with water.

Which wouldn't be a problem unless the preacher was actively mixing it with water on TV and instructing people to take it daily.

And now you know why holy acid isn't a thing.

I understand why Republicans might hate voters and being supported to vote for the candidate they like most.

However, how is this going to help them?

Don't republican voters use mail in ballots? Specifically the elderly: Their primary voter base?

HuddaBudda,

It's more surprising that a rapist, election denier (With no evidence), Money launderer, and past seditionist, is somehow the front runner for the party of law and order.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, the more evidence that comes out, the more republicans want to vote for him.

I have been a christian most of my life and I am not fully sure how to respond to this.

I feel like if you cannot test your faith, put it in the ring and let it dance with the other arguments. Then what is your faith except blind servitude? I also understand that not everyone is going to believe the way I do, and that is alright too. So long we get to debate logically, then I have no problem with it.

But I do think this is needed, Christianity needs to be judged, it needs to be criticized, because that is the only way Christians are going to grow.

But I also understand that Christians seem to be jumping into calculus 3 (Leviticus), before they've mastered the basics (Love your neighbor as yourself). So it is no wonder that most people who want to debate as a christian come from a place of (You are wrong, I am right), but also they don't understand the context of what they are regurgitating. Or even why it matters.

TL:DR Christians are going to bring in a lot of information that is wrong, but I also think it is necessary for that wrong information to be brought to the light for us to grow.

HuddaBudda,
HuddaBudda avatar

I could understand stuff like porn and that, obviously it's a christian forum.

Though I am not sure why Christians can't talk about LGBTQ+ topics. Is it taboo to talk about such things? Are we to pretend they aren't real people that exist? That they don't deserve the same rights we do?

At best, it is cowardice to not discuss these things, at worst it is bigotry against a group of people that have done nothing wrong.

At least from what I've seen from the Russian navy. They are getting slaughtered by torpedo drones. For a moment, we even had them going into Russia's Dry docks, ruining ships that were being repaired.

While you are partially right, in that you don't need ships on a land battle. I feel this is more of a helicopter analogy. In that Russia does have attack helicopters, but can't use them effectively because they keep getting knocked out by better anti-air weaponry.

Russia is sending 'disposable' soldiers to fight Ukraine high on amphetamines to ensure they 'still run at machine guns,' military expert says (www.businessinsider.com)

Russia has taken to chemically lowering its soldiers’ inhibitions to guarantee these ill-trained civilians and convicts continue to fight no matter the odds in the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to a UK defense think tank.

Didn't Russia raise a stink because Brittney Griner accidentally took weed to Russia?

What a bunch of hypocrites.

Inflation is plummeting across America except in Ron DeSantis’ Florida (www.alternet.org)

Americans learned Wednesday morning the rate of inflation nationally has dropped dramatically, to just 3% annually, down from over 9% one year ago.But not in Florida, which MarketWatch reports “has the highest inflation in the U.S.”For much of the year, even before his presidential campaign official...

HuddaBudda,
HuddaBudda avatar

A few reasons. I've lived in Florida nearly all my life. Only thing I can warn people is that Florida changes more than the weather. Crime doesn't sleep but our government sure does. So we're usually the proving ground for crazy ideologies.

  1. People aren't moving to Florida, Cooperate money is.

Nearly 1.7 million homes in Florida have no occupants because companies can claim tax credits on empty homes they could not rent out for the year. So they can claim amazing returns from investments, and claim tax credits on their returns because they couldn't rent out the overpriced homes. It's government welfare for landlords.

  1. People are fleeing Florida

It's bad. how bad will take time to tell. The stores are closing down, the leasing signs are coming up, and people in charge are pretending that they are winning because DeSantis is on the ballot.

HuddaBudda,
HuddaBudda avatar

I certainly don't forget why that is.

Since taking office, DeSantis has given away $2 billion of taxpayer money in industry bailouts, while taking in $3.9 million in campaign donations from those same insurers. In addition, the governor has stripped Floridians of their ability to sue insurance giants who wrongfully deny claims by removing their ability to recover legal fees. Meanwhile, rate hikes, rubber stamped by the state, have nearly doubled average insurance costs, with homeowners now paying nearly three times the national average.

I wonder if Reddit realizes that subreddits are going NSFW because they don't have the tools to combat NSFW content.

This isn't a threat by moderators, this is self preservation. They literally have no where else to go.

They take away the NSFW tags, then they will be blamed for any NSFW content that gets public attention.

So it's a lose/lose situation.

HuddaBudda,

I mean, if you got something about a democrat, it's not like we're going anywhere.

It's not like we don't know about Nancy Polosi's insider trading.

I am not going to defend crime when it happens. I also certainly will not protect stupid crimes either. So don't pretend that there is some invisible barrier from sharing your side. If you got something, we are listing, but you are going to have to shout really hard over.....

My problem isn't that there is a fox in the hen house, my problem is there is a MAGA bear in the cabin.

Sir, it isn't like we don't have the resources to fight climate change and hunger. We spent 10 trillion dollars to dunk 100,000,000 dollar rockets on opium farmers and goat herders.

We have the money and resources. We also burn 40% of our food as food waste. Meaning only 60% gets eaten, the rest is thrown out.

We can multitask. This isn't a trolly ethics question where we have to kill starving people or save the planet. There are 8 billion of us on this planet. We can do both at the same time.

This discussion inevitable devolves into “just do EVERYTHING all at once.” While a fine idea, there is only so much money to go around. We can argue that we should tax the rich more, and I would agree, but Western countries are democracies. People vote for what they think is reasonable. So we really are working with finite resources. We should spend that money where it will save the greatest number of human lives.

The reason I did not point it out is because it is a logical red herring, not to mention, false.

This discussion inevitable devolves into “just do EVERYTHING all at once.” While a fine idea, there is only so much money to go around.

There is plenty to go around, the problem is allocation of resources. The biggest lie you've ever been told is that we can't afford 200 billion to fix problems, but we have 200 billion for tax fraud.

We can argue that we should tax the rich more, and I would agree, but Western countries are democracies. People vote for what they think is reasonable. So we really are working with finite resources.

What is the correlation between democracies and finite resources? I didn't realize that America is the only exporter of food or fixes to problems.

Am I supposed to give up because there is opposition? Because people disagree with me? No, I can only present the facts. We have the resources, we just aren't using them properly.

We should spend that money where it will save the greatest number of human lives.

Agreed, though just because you wrapped your shit cake with nice icing doesn't mean it isn't a shit cake. And is the logical equivalent of a 2 year old saying "We should love everyone."

Of course. We should do that.

But everything you have written is boiled down to excuses on why we can't. Why global warming has to take a back seat for feeding people. Of course feeding people is right, but you cannot argue that it is one or the other. When everything else doesn't work that way.

A. People can divide their attention on different projects.

B. We have the resources to accomplish this.

C. Saying America is a democracy and thus the sole provider of help and solutions across the world is the only country that can eliminate global warming and poverty is logically bullshit.

Tim Scott

The South Carolina senator praised the ruling as "a victory for common sense."

"You take out a loan, you pay it back. This decision frees taxpayers from shouldering debt they never signed up for," he tweeted.

Weird, I didn't get a decision to shoulder the bad debt these companies that got their PPP loans forgiven.

Or the 2008 Financial bailout on my future.

Or the 200 billion in medicare/covid fraud

Reddit is going to remove mods of private communities unless they reopen — ‘This is a courtesy notice to let you know that you will lose moderator status in the community by end of week.’ (www.theverge.com)

Reddit has informed moderators of communities that are still private in protest that they will lose their mod status by the end of the week. Thousands of communities went dark earlier this month to push back on the company’s planned API pricing changes.

Once people realize what they can get away with, the REAL trolls, not the John Oliver sexy pics groups, but the joker types with a "watch the world burn" mentality will start making their home there.

Big problems sometimes have easy solutions

Step 1, set up bug bomb and commit mass genocide on the insect population

Step 2: spend 3-6 hours away from the home doing errands or meeting up with a friend.

Step 3: Vacuum or sweep

Step 4: laugh your way to the bank with a $9,999,990
