I just hit 10 hours in Earthbound on my Anbernic RG280V. I’m looking forward to trying some more SNES games once I’m finished (Super Mario World, Street Fighter Turbo II, Zelda: Link to the Past, etc.)....
I recently beat the PC port of Chrono Trigger, which was my first time beating it. It held up better than I expected.
Currently I'm switching off between Megaman Battle Network 2, Half Life, and Lost Odyssey. It's my first time playing Lost Odyssey and I'm a little surprised how much I'm enjoying it. It helps that the localization has been really good so far.
It definitely feels like the kbin hosted magazines that have overlap with Lemmy magazines are struggling to get attention/engagement. I think part of it is just that so many people are over there and don't look at federated content, so more kbin users don't bother with contributing to our own magazines.
I'm not sure what the answer is to fix that, or if it's even something that needs to be fixed since we federation we're still receiving and engaging in content. Would love to see more activity on our home turf though.
Sounds good! Not a big priority, I just think it would be nice since kbin has access to both. Like others have said here, I appreciate the work you're doing!
(Stillwater, Okla.) — In a remarkably rapid verdict, a Payne County jury took only 35 minutes to convict a man, who considers himself a sovereign citizen and represented himself at his trial last week, of child stealing, possessing guns illegally, and obstructing an officer in rural Stillwater.
The thing that annoys me about "Sovereign Citizens" representing themselves in court/thinking that they somehow aren't beholden to US law because of some stupid declaration on their part is that the law and the court are there for their sake. Having a trial, being presumed innocent until proven guilty, and entire idea of due process is afforded to citizens of the United States. If "Sovereign Citizens" truly weren't US citizens, there wouldn't be a need to go through all of this. The government could just seize them and do whatever they wanted with them. They wouldn't have any government to go to bat for them.
It's true, we give trials and similar protections to citizens of other nations, but if someone weren't part of a nation at all, why bother? There wouldn't be a larger body of organization that would be interested in protecting them.
And we have suspended that right to non-citizens before. That was a major issue with Gitmo (in addition to the cruel and unusual punishment)
The development time on that game was also super rushed, compared to what the game needed. That's why you don't recruit any of the ME2 companions to be in your squad (since they could all die) and why so many decisions from earlier games didn't really pan out if you had a save where the decisions didn't match what Bioware was able to plan for/had time to develop. I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if they barely even got the ending they had finished in time to ship.
Interesting, I hadn't heard of this before. I'm not sure how I feel about the environments in the trailer. I think the game looks largely visually appealing, but the trees/snow/rocks seems to clash with the character models.
I'm almost willing to bet they'll release a Golden/Royal version a year or two after this version that has the portable content in it, if they do anything with the portable content at all. They wouldn't do something so consumer friendly as release it as dlc, they'll make you rebuy the entire game instead.
I'd like to throw "Space Dandy" out there. I wouldn't say it's the best, but I think it does a really good job of combining sci-fi with comedy, and it can touch on some out there concepts.
Again, not the greatest, but definitely worth a watch.
I think the inference to take from their comment is that by extension others probably didn't like it either, and so there is less excitement for a sequel to a movie that wasn't as well received.
@LePertti visually the game is great, but the gameplay for the first part is a little rough around the edges. The visuals and story kept me going though.
Thinking, slice of life, farming/country, magical/fantasy. Not fan service boobalicious stuff pls.
I loved watching THE MAKANAI on Netflix which was adapted from Kiyo in Kyoto.
What are your recs?
(pls tell me where I can find said manga, one of my main difficulties is FINDING the stuff. It's like, cryptic AF)
Bonus if it's free or could be gotten from a library or something.
@MsHearthWitch Pluto (recently adapted to an anime on Netflix) has some really good Sci-Fi thoughts and questions, though it may be more serious than you're looking for.
Blue Flag (published by Viz in America) is a story about a high school boy who develops a crush on a girl who has a crush on his friend, at least that's where it starts. It then goes on to look at some of the pressures modern day kids might face in high school (at least in Japan). High school drama, but feels grounded.
Generally, if you're looking to read manga, you can find fan transitions on MangaDex.
What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). I can second Thumper. I bought it on a whim, and have since bought it several more times for more devices. It's such a satisfying game to play. I had no idea about the Harmonix connection, but it makes total sense now that you've said it.
Very excited to see this finally released. As glad as I am that it's free, I wish Sony or From could have given it their official blessing and partnered with her so she could sell it and make money. She's put a ton of work into this and the PS1 Demake, and I wish she could have gotten paid for her effort. She deserves it
I hope you do play it someday! I think it's definitely a game you have to be in the mood for, but when it clicks it's an amazing experience. But I also think it's really easy to bounce off of it too
