The development time on that game was also super rushed, compared to what the game needed. That's why you don't recruit any of the ME2 companions to be in your squad (since they could all die) and why so many decisions from earlier games didn't really pan out if you had a save where the decisions didn't match what Bioware was able to plan for/had time to develop. I absolutely wouldn't be surprised if they barely even got the ending they had finished in time to ship.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of this before. I'm not sure how I feel about the environments in the trailer. I think the game looks largely visually appealing, but the trees/snow/rocks seems to clash with the character models.

I thought Amy Hennig worked on Legacy of Kain, which did come out on PC.

I'm almost willing to bet they'll release a Golden/Royal version a year or two after this version that has the portable content in it, if they do anything with the portable content at all. They wouldn't do something so consumer friendly as release it as dlc, they'll make you rebuy the entire game instead.

Surprised I didn't see Legend of the Galactic Heroes sooner. I never got around to finishing it, but it was a very enjoyable space opera

I'd like to throw "Space Dandy" out there. I wouldn't say it's the best, but I think it does a really good job of combining sci-fi with comedy, and it can touch on some out there concepts.

Again, not the greatest, but definitely worth a watch.

I think the inference to take from their comment is that by extension others probably didn't like it either, and so there is less excitement for a sequel to a movie that wasn't as well received.

Alan Wake II is such a visual feast, as messed up as the world in the game is, I'm loving every minute of it!

@LePertti visually the game is great, but the gameplay for the first part is a little rough around the edges. The visuals and story kept me going though.

MsHearthWitch, (edited ) to manga

I would like to start reading more manga.

Thinking, slice of life, farming/country, magical/fantasy. Not fan service boobalicious stuff pls.
I loved watching THE MAKANAI on Netflix which was adapted from Kiyo in Kyoto.

What are your recs?

(pls tell me where I can find said manga, one of my main difficulties is FINDING the stuff. It's like, cryptic AF)

Bonus if it's free or could be gotten from a library or something.

See next post for what I've read and enjoyed.

@MsHearthWitch Pluto (recently adapted to an anime on Netflix) has some really good Sci-Fi thoughts and questions, though it may be more serious than you're looking for.

Blue Flag (published by Viz in America) is a story about a high school boy who develops a crush on a girl who has a crush on his friend, at least that's where it starts. It then goes on to look at some of the pressures modern day kids might face in high school (at least in Japan). High school drama, but feels grounded.

Generally, if you're looking to read manga, you can find fan transitions on MangaDex.

I've heard good things about Cozy Grove, though I haven't played it yet. Seems like a good Steam Deck game

What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises?

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Ethical/consumer reasons...

I can second Thumper. I bought it on a whim, and have since bought it several more times for more devices. It's such a satisfying game to play. I had no idea about the Harmonix connection, but it makes total sense now that you've said it.

Very excited to see this finally released. As glad as I am that it's free, I wish Sony or From could have given it their official blessing and partnered with her so she could sell it and make money. She's put a ton of work into this and the PS1 Demake, and I wish she could have gotten paid for her effort. She deserves it

I checked the website listed in the video, and it looks like it says there will be local split screen!

I hope you do play it someday! I think it's definitely a game you have to be in the mood for, but when it clicks it's an amazing experience. But I also think it's really easy to bounce off of it too

Half opposite, at least. Definitely science, but not fiction

JowlesMcGee,
JowlesMcGee avatar

Wouldn't the exact opposite not have science at all? So if it's science fiction, then the opposite would be fantasy fact (if such a thing even exists)

I think this was most likely it. If the new actor sticks around then it’s possible he’ll be as well known as Martinet, but I’m sure Nintendo would prefer the voice be someone who’s more easily replaceable.

Just noticed this magazine for the first time today. I saw that there weren't any threads already here, so I figured I'd just start posting some of the stuff I've written.

This one has a bad / rushed ending, sorry. Any feedback would be welcome and appreciated.

After you finish the witness, you should try The Looker. It's a free parody of the witness that's also pretty good as a puzzle game in its own right. Though, like the witness, I didn't finish it either.

I've been playing some Mario Wonder too (both co-op and single player). I'm not the biggest 2D platformer fan, but I think it does a pretty good job. I'm surprised at how difficult some of the levels have gotten so far (4 and 5 star difficulty levels ain't no joke). I'm not sure if I'll finish it, but there's fun to be had for sure.

I'm also closing in on finishing Chrono Trigger for the first time. I'm enjoying it, though I think the PS1 and PS2 era JRPGs are more up my alley. This game definitely oozes charm though, and I can see why many consider it a classic. After I beat it I'll probably try Chrono Cross again, though last time I tried playing it the game froze twice early on just talking to people...

I think so, though there are some optional levels they may struggle with. If they play as Yoshi they won't take any damage, which might help. Alternatively, someone more experienced could play as Yoshi and the kid could ride the Yoshi through some of the more challenging spots.

Just a heads up, I wouldn't consider FF Origin a souls like. It's more of just a typical action game (though a fun one)
