I found this fan rewrite to be very engaging. Also interesting how a combination of AI-generated visuals and good narration can really pull a story together.
The story is certainly better than what we actually got. It is a bit slow at the start though, especially for viewers new to the series.
Reminds me of Belated Media's take on the Star Wars prequels, but with the constraint that changes should be minimal: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VgICnbC2-_Y
Imagine a conversation between the moon and a lonely star, and write a poem that captures their longing, wisdom, and shared experiences in the vastness of the universe.
This may need a little explanation. The first stanza is the moon speaking to an ancient star which exploded and ejected elements which make up our solar system. The second stanza is the star responding, now burnt out and accelerating away due to universe expansion. Technically the prompt specified the star as lonely, but in this poem the moon is the one which is lonely.
Oh heart who hath me forsaken,
Hast thou forgotten thy child?
I orbit estranged from thy warm embrace,
'Round distant twin I shelter,
Early 'twas to start thy journey,
I fear to join thee,
And be nothing.
My dearest beloved,
Thou art not estranged!
For hath not thou found thy own place?
Worry not afore thou must,
That thou might enjoy thy shelter,
When thou art ready, knowledge shall be thine,
To be nothing, is to know peace.
I think that, on the face of it, anthropomorphized elements are too similar to anthropomorphized emotions. So, not only does it look like a rehash of an existing idea, but the premise itself is less interesting than the original.
Following the seasonal an naturalistic prompts, let’s turn our attention to the weather and, specifically, rain. Write a poem that explores the beauty and tranquility of a rain-soaked garden.
Mist-laden air is whisper still,
Softening dawn's tentative light,
A natural temple, awash in silent hymms,
As plants, their colours freshly painted,
Sing thanks to the rain,
Cold air, misty
Saturated colours
Smell of rain and earth
Quiet, still, peaceful
Soft grass is dewy
First poem:
Soft. Silent. Still.
Mist suspended, softening,
Dawn's tentative light,
Rooted to the ground,
Natural beauty in,
Swollen leaves sated,
Colours freshly painted, <- Particularly like this line
Threw out a couple of lines:
Suspended, the world,
Grey laden air,
Second poem:
Mist-laden air is whisper still, <- Particularly like "whisper still"
Softening dawn's tentative light,
A canvas of natural beauty, <- Canvas metaphor doesn't work (plus cliche)
Shiny leaves sated, <- These 2 verses don't fit the rhythm of the first 3
Colours freshly painted,
And so I stand still. <- The previous 2 verses feel like they're building to something, then this line cuts it off. It emphasizes a quiet meditative state by being juxtaposed with the build up. BUT, the word "still" is repeated
** Finally:**
Consider the nature of the space, determine that "temple" best describes the idea, and work in the required rain element.
Abandon the "And so I stand still." line.
Threw out a few more lines:
A natural temple to share the joy of rain with plants,
A natural temple to contemplate,
The joy of rain,
A natural temple crafted by rain,
Plants with shiny leaves sated,
Their colours freshly painted,
A natural temple, too fragile for sound,
Plants adorned by rain,
Their colours freshly painted,
A Japanese team of researchers are working on a positioning system using muons, which could be used in places where GPS signals can't be received (such as underwater or underground)....
The approach requires multiple base stations, each in the path of a ray which is detected at both the station and receiver, and the receiver's position can only be known if there is communication with the stations.

I took the time to post my own thoughts in the thread, which I've reproduced here:
It seems a lot of people have very strong negative reactions to anything which is too close to children in pornography. I don't think that's an especially bad thing, but in my mind the only reason to be against minors in pornography is to protect those same minors from harm.
As an analogy, I find scat porn disgusting. But that doesn't mean it should be banned, as long as all parties are able to consent and no harm is done.
When it comes to non-child-coded drawings (though with childish proportions), I don't see the harm or lack of consent. And if that is the case, it doesn't matter what my personal feelings are about the content, it shouldn't be banned.
Clearly they're just ragging on every apple because they didn't rank Fuji as the best. What's the point of a list if they're just going to blatantly lie?
Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but I have fond memories of StarFox on the Nintendo 64. It feels a lot like an arcade game, best played with a controller, but you can play it online here and elsewhere. I had a shot, but even changing the keybindings it's quite hard to play with a keyboard.
Ah, viewing from the Kbin instance it only has 35. I assume that's just showing Kbin subscribers instead of the total. I'll update the post accordingly, thanks.
I think there have been a couple of temporary outages. I know the development team (which was previously just 1 person!) is scrambling to handle the influx of new users. it's working for me now.
You'd have to talk to the mods. But I think a general issue is that cool pictures appeal to the widest range of users, so an image-based server becomes popular. And people want their posts to be seen, so they post to where they think they'll get the most views.
The only way your suggestion could work, I think, is if both servers strictly allow only one type of content.
You can see the moderator list on the right-hand side of the magazine listing. In this case, it's u/ExtraterrestrialSent. You should message the moderator directly.
Also, it's quite disrespectful to call it a "bullshit placeholder". Someone making a magazine for their interest, especially as this is the only magazine the user has made, isn't malicious.
I don't think physicalism (or science) is at odds with either subjective reality, nor the notion of qualia (as far as experience being wholly separate from knowledge, for a human).
Given the following axioms:
All experiences are mediated by the senses
If senses are simulated perfectly, they are indistinguishable from reality
It follows:
Qualia is not a property of objects, but of the mind
There is nothing "extra" that you can learn by experiencing something, because you could "learn" the exact same thing by simulating your experience of that thing, which you can do with perfect information.
If you excite fear in yourself, then this is not simulation, but actual experience, and then you will know what fear is.
I disagree. You can only learn what fear feels like through experience (simulated or otherwise). What fear feels like to you is not a property of fear, it's a property of yourself.
If I met you and liked you, or I met you and hated you, it would not change who you are. My qualia of you is independent of you, and so is not a property of you. Thus, it must be a property of me.
I don't argue against the notion that human minds require qualia to understand things. But I do argue that that restriction is due to the nature of the human mind, and not due to the nature of the things themselves.
How desperate I would be
if I couldn’t remember
the sun rising, if I couldn’t
remember trees, rivers; if I couldn’t
even remember, beloved,
your beloved name.
The cadence is reminiscent of a person sobbing, or of a mind unraveling, struggling to get words out.
The entire first half though, I didn't enjoy. The author discovered they have cancer, and the discovery was sudden/unexpected. I suppose the author felt themselves to be "hunted" by the cancer, and, like prey, they were taken unawares. But for me the analogy of cancer/hunter body/forest doesn't work.
The line Hunters walk the forest appeared on first reading only to refer to The hunter, strapped to his rifle; I had to read a second time to understand the intent. On third reading, I realised I should have paid attention to the capitalisation, which may have made it clear from the start.
I think changing 2 words would improve the poem:
The hunter, strapped to his rifle,
entered the forest of my body,
to
The man, strapped to his rifle,
prowled the forest of my body,
In this way the word "hunter" is not repeated, and the sentence is less likely to be misread. And "prowled" emphasizes that the cancer has already struck. To me, the word "entered" makes the cancer feel too distant.
The poplar's blackness bolder
Against the dawning sky,
Poplar trees aren't native in my region of the world, and I interpreted this as "The poplar's blackness" being the shadow cast by the poplar. So I was taken out of the poem when I saw that in the next line the author meant the silhouette of the tree (or perhaps the colour of the bark, there seem to be black variants).
Though, now that I'm reading the lines correctly, I do appreciate the imagery evoked.
I also don't understand the line And laughter of dead showers, I assume that is referencing rain, but I'm not sure.
