My company ordered back to office, and as I was told, I was the only one to say no.

I generate too much value and have tolerated being underpayed enough that they can't justify firing me.

I'm also not some MIT AI machine learning savant. I come from a business analyst/ QA background, and I have made a SQL/Java/VBA system for virtually free that does the work of a team of 10 every day, but it's just my underpaid ass running it.

When I lose this job, honestly, I'm fucked and it will be a nightmare because I'll probably need to go into an office, and I'm in no shape for that.

But for today, I said no and I keep doing my job.

I, at 37, am reaching my first professional opportunity to manage a support resource I've needed for 5 years, to maintain the data infrastructure I have built that has cut and dry made my company at least 40 million dollars in the past 2 years, but arguably has also saved the company at least 250k in manpower hours each year.

That resource is an outsourced individual from a firm in India who is making a slave wage.

I am also still severely undercompensated.

My company paid over 10 million dollars for Infosys to implement oracle cloud.

It has been 3 years of complete abject torture, misery, and failure.

Infosys is an army of completely clueless, unqualified, and incompetent people on a revolving door.

It's like they make it a point to NEVER meet the requirements. They always find some convoluted round about lengthy manual process for everything they do.

I have gotten to the point where any time I am roped into an Infosys project, I will do nothing but ask to see the code, and therein is the problem, even their most "seasoned senior developer" can't produce the code because it doesn't exist.

They use janky point and click applications to "write code" for them, shove the code I to the oracle instance, break all of the existing code doing so, and repeat.

Infosys is a scam.
