I feel like a lot of communities could use a few more moderators here and there. Thankfully the spam hasn't been too bad to be noticeable now, but I feel like there'll be an inflection point where the userbase will far outnumber the moderators on certain magazines.
Original creator was only involved in the "first season", all the way back in 2000. Two new seasons were made in the 2010s when adult swim decided they needed to "bring it back" with a completely new director and animation studio. It wasn't good, and now they're committing to two more new seasons.
Most of us agree that all the follow up seasons are non-cannon and a mess. It distracts from what a good series the original 6-episode OVA was.
It wasn't too long ago that it seemed like every couple of months a shiny new MiSTer core or Analogue product was dropping to a ton of community fanfare, but things have understandably slowed down a little bit recently (especially as platforms like the MiSTer start to butt up against hardware limitations)....
A new PCB standard or something akin to that would be nice. The DE-10 Nano is pretty important to the mister project ofc, but it would be nice to see some open source PCBs even if the design is purely theoretical.
Hi, I was just browsing kbin on my work pc which is not signed into my account. While scrolling down there was a very nsfw picture (female genitalia) in the random posts sidebar. This nsfw content was, for some reason, not even blurred. I've seen this a couple times previously and am not sure where a good place to report or...
For random sidebar posts from non-local instances, it would be nice to add a bit of a delay where image posts won't show up there until 1 hour or so after the post? That would give time for instance moderators to do their thing perhaps.
I somehow missed this one yesterday, but I'm staying optimistic. For those who don't know, it's directed by the same director as Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo!
Some of them are just too far invested to see the light. It's actually pretty sad to see twitter addicts fail to migrate to any of the plethora of alternatives.

I quite value content from targetted instances, but most of the "general" instances seem to be memes, posts on boosting lemmy, memes, reddit, memes bot posts, memes, reddit, memes, discussion on lemmy mobile applications, memes reddit, memes, and people talking about how the lemmy changed their lives oh and memes....
I'm not sure that small communities are doomed to have lower quality content, but it definitely requires more moderation to prevent spam.
People also need to be better conditioned. They treat content quantity as being more important than quality, which is essentially the opposite of what you want when it comes to high quality posting.
I think we just need more users posting in other communities. I try to fill in to gaming when I can, but I can't keep up with the news cycles just yet.
The Los Angeles City Controller’s office is investigating after NBCUniversal severely trimmed a row of trees outside its studios where members of SAG-AFTRA were picketing company executives, eliminating shade during a searing heatwave.
Imagine being so petty about people walking out that you decide to vandalize trees for no reason other than to "get at" the people who are voicing their concern.
Hot on the heels of last week’s announcement that Intel would end their NUC line, Intel and ASUS have struck a non-exclusive deal that will see ASUS assume manufacturing, sales, and support of 10th to 13th Gen NUCs. ASUS will also be able to develop future NUC designs; all under a new business unit called ASUS NUC BU.
I'm kind of glad. Only because I was thinking about buying a NUC for windows development purposes instead of using a VM or dual boot -- so it looks like that option will be available for me in the future.
For me, it was PhotoPrism. I used to be an idiot, and used Google Photos as my gallery. I knew that it was terrible for privacy but was too lazy to do anything about it. I’ve ended up with a number of machines on my network, and a need to name them all in a somewhat logical way. For several years I had them named after the planets, which worked well until the PCs for myself, my girlfriend, servers and Raspberry Pi’s quickly summed up to more than the eight planets. I’ve broadened it...
I always come up with a naming scheme and then immediately forget it either because I'm in a rush setting up a computer and forget to name the machine or because I get tired of trying to keep track of which machine is what.

If you do, obviously most of Nintendo's titles are worth having. Zelda games are an easy recommend, but also Splatoon is pretty great.
If not, there's tons of games that are good that aren't Nintendo games that I think are worth having.
Octopath Traveler is awesome. I haven't played 2 yet, but I can recommend 1 if you like JRPGs
All legacy FF games are on the platform to some capacity
Ace Attorney game collections are great if you like visual novels
Basically every indie is on the platform at this point. Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, probably a lot of others but those are some big names that come to mind.
Otherwise, I would avoid ports that haven't gotten good reviews. Also, make sure that the games aren't "cloud only" unless you're comfortable with that.
