Drawing! Got pen? Got paper? Doesn't matter what paper or pen, or whether you think you are bad at it. It can be really fun, and even if you don't take it too seriously, you will probably get better without really trying to. Plus, people seem to like it when you draw them something even if it isn't perfect! It doesn't even have to look like anything specific, just doodle some squiggles and it can feel nice and even look quite cool!

Yes! Even drawing or painting in software just with a mouse is its own niche! Before I got my little cheapy drawing tablet I did a lot of funny drawings using my mouse and I think they are so cute, lol

I think so, or at least there is a little popup menu where you can moderate a post, and in the case of the microblogs that includes ban & delete options, but I'm not sure if that would only work for posts created on kbin or what. And for the main threads, a mod can pin, delete, or ban.

if you admin a magazine you can choose relevant tags for it that can actually bring in posts from the rest of fedi that use those same tags, so they will appear on the microblog tab on kbin ~ for example on /m/food there are a list of tags including or , and you can see posts from mastodon etc in the microblog tab because they have those tags too

i really like the group view idea, similar to how lists work on other platforms! that would be a cool addition.

What kind of horror do you like and what are some of your favorite horror movies? I've always loved eighties horror. I usually watch movies like The Lost Boys/Poltergeist/The Thing etc multiple times a year. If anyone else loves eighties b horror I strongly suggest they watch Night of the Demons. Share your favorites. Let's get the community started off with an easy one!

@Beasto I love that 80s b-horror too, but also I have been getting into the late 90s/early 2000s lately cos the only one I ever paid attention to from that era was Scream. I never was that big on slashers (always leaned more body horror/folk horror/creature feature) so it has been nice for me to branch out and there is some good popcorn to be had! Also I am a sucker for found footage, I don't know why I like it so much, even when it isn't very good I still kinda love it. Oh and I have a special place in my heart for the Purge franchise.

Anyway, a few somewhat-recently-seen faves: Prince of Darkness, Mad God, Eyes Without a Face, DeadStream, Be My Cat, M3gan

@Beasto Ooo I tried to watch Heck, the short it was based on, and that was enough for me to conclude I was not the right audience for Skinamarink! I'm glad it exists though, it is cool to have more experimental stuff finding success, but my attention deficit ass stood no chance with that one lmao.

I love those V/H/S movies, some segments are pretty average but I like the ethos of it and I will keep watching them as long as they keep making them! Though I'm waiting to see if they pull some bananas thing one year and the VHS will be scans of film from the 1930s or something wild like that

This is probably the only spooky thing that has happened to me (so far!): a couple months ago I was traveling for work and staying in a hotel. The room had a balcony but I tried the sliding door when I first got there, and it would not budge, even though I checked I had unlatched it properly. It was just plain stuck so I relatched it and gave up on my dream of balcony coffee mornings for the week. The night before I left, I was sitting in bed reading on my tablet and I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see the sliding door opening entirely of its own accord. There was nobody on the balcony, there was no earthquake that had jostled it loose, there had been no housekeeping during my stay to open it, it wasn't an electronic lock, I had no explanation! So I got up and closed the door and tried opening it again. Stuck?! I am not a ghosts person but even I was like...that is some ghost nonsense, I would totally do this if I was a ghost.

yeah true! I am just not wanting to spread myself too thin or make something if it already existed! But if there isn't anything by tomorrow I might sally forth and do it anyway :P

How can I use the search bar to find a specific community? For example, I want to find gaming@beehaw but searching for gaming doesn't give me any useful results here. Am I missing something?

@kaishi @aeroniero head to the "Magazines" tab and use the search bar in that tab instead to find communities (i tested this with gaming@beehaw but you can also just put gaming and it will find it!)

@east oh no I hope it was still a melt and not a charcoal yet! I made pasta so it went kinda huge and soft and horrible ;_; then to add insult to injury it boiled over so I had to clean the stovetop (it kind of needed a clean anyway but still!)

@chf there's a little explainer here that details using a microblog post vs starting a thread, personally i think any situation where you don't think it warrants making a whole new thread it is handy to use them for!

@danchez1 so when you make a new thread/post, "select a magazine" directs it to the appropriate place, you can either scroll through the list of magazines or try typing in the box to see if it finds something, like in the example pictures (that i hope work lol) I started typing "animals" and it has found a good magazine to post animals in (example), so I can select it and my image will go there, but I can also use the "Tags" box to provide more info like "dogs" (example)
