Niello,

Razor leaf is like having hundreds of knives thrown at you simultaneously. Hydro pump you basically die almost instantly. There’s a reason water jet can be used to cut metals.

Let me tell you an anecdote. I'm Asian and grew up in an Asian country. When I was studying abroad there's a time when my American friends were watching a Japanese drama series. I was the one asking them throughout the watch session who's who because I couldn't tell the actors' faces apart.

Niello,

“There are differences in the way men and women feel and think,” one flyer reads. “One of the reasons for this is the structural difference in the brains of men and women. It is known that men act based on theories, while women act based on emotions.”

Ew, it's the whole thing and not just a one sentence slip. Not surprising, but still disappointing. Being an angry asshole because of testosterone is still 100% acting on emotion and not logic.

Niello,

EU really is the one doing all the good work. Meanwhile, the US government is useless as a government for its size.

Niello,

It was already planned to end. The canvas wide FUCK SPEZ! has nothing to do with it. It was actually coordinated because they know it's ending. The white FUCK SPEZ! is only done during the white out, where to get the canvas deleted to blank (which also happened last year), users are only able to add greyscale tiles and eventually just white. There were plenty of other fuck Spez messages and art, and some were censored like the guillotine or when the name Steve Huffman was used directly, but this wasn't one of them.

Don't feel bad for the Moderators of Reddit

I should begin by mentioning that I am (was) a moderator of three subreddits: one large subreddit, one NSFW subreddit and a medical-related subreddit. After u/spez’s calamitous AMA, I joined Lemmy and haven’t looked back. I am really enjoying the Lemmy/KBin vibe. It is very much an alpha (almost beta) product and the ad...

The abusive relationship is with Reddit, not the community they moderate. A more accurate analogy is tolerating the abusive person because you don't want to completely lost contact with many other people you care about just because of that one guy who they're still friend with. The answer then become less clear cut than just cut off the toxic person. It becomes a question of when the abusive person becomes toxic enough that even the prospect of keeping in touch with other people you care about isn't worth it any more. That is going to be different for everyone and there's no right answer as it completely depends on the person. It is still possible that someone misjudge and they'd be better off leaving earlier, but what that earlier point is still has to be decided first according to their own circumstances.

To illustrate my point. Some people believe it's the right thing to do to leave Reddit much earlier than this year, such as when they let /r/the_donald operated freely. In this case here because you decided to stay until 1-2 months ago, you are also part of the problem that "stayed and helped Reddit build Reddit".

I think this post simplified the situation in a way that misrepresented the motivation of some moderators.

Wonder how much of it is because of Threads and how much of it is from making the site inaccessible without accounts and the rate limit.

Niello,

i'll take country defederation dramas over the shit we have now any day.

They are fucking clumps of cells and fetuses, not babies. The to-be-mother is a fucking adult human (and only a child in some cases) with fully grown nerves cells and developed emotions.

Niello,

Actually, they should be reported. Don't just scroll pass if you see harassment or hate speech.

Niello,

None of these people deserve their positions.

Niello,

Imo, more emphasis should have been made on how spez treated Christian, the Apolla dev. It's honestly disgusting. And not even any kind of apology or direct reply. Spez just went on to smear Christian's name more with disinformation he fed to the press via interviews.

How about assuming you have a bad take and reflect?

Reddit is going to remove mods of private communities unless they reopen — ‘This is a courtesy notice to let you know that you will lose moderator status in the community by end of week.’ (www.theverge.com)

Reddit has informed moderators of communities that are still private in protest that they will lose their mod status by the end of the week. Thousands of communities went dark earlier this month to push back on the company’s planned API pricing changes.

There was some discussion in /r/modcoord on how mods could actually sue Reddit for free labour. I'm not sure how viable it is, but at least it seems to me like there's some ground to stand on.

https://libreddit.privacydev.net/r/ModCoord/comments/14jue57/is_reddits_moderation_structure_illegal_an/

There is also this part "Under FLSA regulations, an individual cannot volunteer services to a private, for-profit company."

Niello,

Free speech isn't just a right, it's a responsibility. Too many people touting free speech don't understand that.
