OneShoeBoy,

I'm with you, I'm at the point where I go to use markdown in emails and loathe having to click around to format things nicely.

OneShoeBoy,

@freebrick it's using the same underlying ActivityPub protocol which is what allows for federation.

Edit: which is how Lemmy/Kbin and Mastodon can talk to each other as well.

OneShoeBoy,

Could also keep using 3rd party apps, apparently all those API calls are costing them millions.

OneShoeBoy,

@ChargingDoorman sorry my comment was with a heavy dose of /s. Given they valued the Apollo traffic at ~20MM my tongue in cheek was saying to keep using the 3rd party apps cos it’s “costing” them so much money.

OneShoeBoy,

Oh I missed that Beehaw blocked lemmy.world, any link or TL;DR for why?

OneShoeBoy,

Hey thanks! Shame that there's harassment going on, but at least federation makes it easier for them to control for that if they so wish!

OneShoeBoy,

Thanks, that's good to know! I'll have to go poking around beehaw to find a post.

OneShoeBoy,

And now we're all talking to each other.

OneShoeBoy,

We shall all converse on this blessed day.

OneShoeBoy,

I'd be more inclined to buy this kind of statue than another generic 'hero pose' one. Shame that it's been pulled, would've picked it up, hopefully it (or a variation) comes back at some stage.

Curious to see what the 'larger plan' is too.

How can we smooth out the migration and help promote kbin/lemmy to subreddits and redditors?

I think the biggest thing we need to figure out is how to make it sound easier than people say it is. People get too hung up on the technicalities of how the fediverse works, and they never try it out and see that it isn't as confusing as it sounds. If we could write up a simple blurb to help promote kbin to subreddit moderators...

OneShoeBoy,

Your login is tied to this instance, so if kbin.social goes the way of the dodo all your posts etc will be deleted alongside it, as well as all the magazines that are hosted on kbin.social.

However, kbin.social being turned off will have no impact on e.g. lemmy.world, so all the communities on lemmy.world will still exist.

For me personally I've got separate lemmy.world and kbin.social accounts, even though you can see communities and posts from lemmy.world (and other instances) on kbin.social and vice versa. I'll probably end up having similar follows on both accounts.

Unlike Mastodon there's no way to migrate accounts (yet!) but the site is still in early dev - lots of people have been talking about it so I'm sure it's something that'll be looked at in the future.

As a shower thought, it'd be nice if there was an app or client that lets you log in to as many instances across Lemmy/Kbin/Others as you want so if you received a notification from e.g. Kbin you could reply using your Kbin profile. May be swinging dangerously close to centralisation for some people though.

OneShoeBoy,

Hey mate here's a list of the magazines ordered by subscriber count I believe?

https://kbin.social/magazines

I found it from a thread that I can't find now on useful links for people coming from Reddit.

OneShoeBoy,

Tildes is also open source so anyone could make a fork and continue development/hosting if the main guy decided to shut everything down.

OneShoeBoy,

Desperate for a new (good) SW RPG and looks like this might scratch that itch.. So cautious optimism from me, but will wait for more footage - who's taking bets on how much of this showcase will be in the final release?

OneShoeBoy,

Beyond hyped, the Fable series was the gateway drug that got me in to RPGs and video games as a whole.

OneShoeBoy,

I say yes, they're a great series to play through at least once though unfortunately may be a bit tough to find (2 is Xbox only and I think 3 was removed from Steam?). Fable Anniversary is still around and kicking though and can give you a taste, though the gameplay is very different to the sequels. Not sure if they're still on Xbox Game Pass, that was how I played through them the last time.

The vibe of the trailer was pretty faithful to the vibe of the original games in my opinion, so you can let that decide if it's something you'll be into or not.

As @exohuman said though all 3 games had lofty promises from Peter Moleneyux which didn't even come close to eventuating. I didn't follow any of that hype and went into them blind and had such a great time, was my gateway into RPGs and gaming so the series as a whole probably sits in my top 10 settings and RPG list (though I may be a bit biased!).
