I have this friend, N, that has recently started believing things very out of the ordinary. He said that he's been getting into paganism and studying runes and candles. I told him that was very interesting, it sounded like a fun time and a good hobby to have. N let me know that it wasn't just a hobby, but that it had a function...
I believe in science, I also practice witchcraft. Do I think anything I’m gonna make is going to help me? I mean, yeah due to legit science. But I also know when to go to a real doctor. Do I think runes and tarot cards can tell me the future? Not necessarily but I view it as more of a, it’s already in my head it’s just helping me spell it out type of thing.
I have no idea your age but, a lot of people dabble in witchcraft in their teens and early 20s and never come back to it. If I did my math right I’ve been practicing for 16 years. I’ve never used it as an excuse to not get mental health help, I’ve never used it as an excuse to not go to a doctor, and I’ve never forced my beliefs on others (which is more than some people in some religions can say).
I’m not saying your friend won’t use religion as an excuse to not do normal things but, I think you should take some time to look at things from another perspective. It’s really not much different than those who believe in an all powerful sky daddy. Not only that but, witchcraft can be secular as well.

How in the unearthly flying fuck did the 6 Republican state governors have standing to sue on behalf of a private company that did NOT have the right to sue and had NO demonstrable harm?

Nigel Farage, a prominent Brexiteer and broadcaster, claimed that his bank accounts have been closed without given reason, suggesting serious political persecution at the highest level....
If this is true. Then Farage has no reason to keep the name of the bank secret.
In that situation, they closed his accounts. So he has evidence. The worst they can do is give a valid reason. So he either knows the reason. Or has other reasons to presume the banks will sue him if he names them.
Apparently he knows what the reason is. At the end it states because he has extra costs associated with himself.
So yes, his actions have left him as a bad investment for these banking groups. And he is openly lying about not knowing the reason. In an attempt to make some political gain. And knows full well that if he names the banking group. He will be sued into oblivion for libel or slander (depending on if he wrote it himself or just claimed it to a journalist).
It’s just basically more lies to make him seem relevant as a political force. When even Brexit supporters have little reason to pay him attention now. He is desperately trying to make himself (and other small right wing parties) seem like a threat to the main parties. By indicating there is some conspiracy to remove his political effectiveness.

California has granted a little girl a first-of-its-kind license to own a unicorn, provided the 7-year-old can find one. She had to agree to provide nourishment like watermelon, exposure to sunlight, moonbeams and rainbows, and polish its horn with a soft cloth. David Begnaud has more.
I can print up a horn, if we know somebody with a horse that doesn’t mind getting dressed up or watermelon…
Edit: maybe there's a kids equestrian program there that has the amenable horses? change up the "care for horses" intro course to "care for unicorns".... alternatively the Wild Animal Park might have a fat unicorn. just spit balling here.

If you are considering race as part of a college admissions, then you are NECESSARILY racist.
But, in reality, AA was there to balance the racial diversity. Living in Asia I'm seeing that university exams are exploited by a rich families here who know how the system works. Rather than evaluating the applicants' academic abilities and potentials, the system usually evaluates the family supports like financial power.
The paper tests are hacked, meaning that too many applicants reach the maximum score practically possible. What then gets to the stage is wealthy participants' personal project to save the society, supported by their rich family. This works effectively because such a project can be bought by money and shows that the kid can follow through with their aim.
I imagine that AA in the US had been a way to contain these hacks and provide education to more diverse people. It was a notorious tool, but I imagine that it helped enroll more Black people into higher education.
If universities did a fair examination, the racial balance should be established anyway. As the balance is heavily skewed by hacks, it makes sense to re-balance the race to what it should be.
And that brings us to the REAL problems- that a lot of minority applicants come from poor neighborhoods with bad primary education, crap high schools full of gangs and drugs, and few resources like books and computers and other opportunities to excel. And THAT is the problem we should be fixing.
Yes, but education is indeed a supreme fix for those problems.
