So, recently some fediverse admins (mostly Mastodon) and the founder of Mastodon, Eugen Rochko (Gargron), where contacted by Meta/Facebook for an NDA meeting. We know nothing about it, but we're pretty sure that it was about this project92 thing that Meta/Facebook is creating to "compete" with Twitter....
A boob, a butt, or even some violence like one might see on the news anyway, I’m not freaked out about all that and I don’t feel the need to hide it from those around me usually… that’s all fine fine, but I don’t want porn on my feed like at all....
It probably goes against the philosophy or whatever of FOSS or Lemmy itself, but why not be a little evil so that you can actually sustain yourself? Donations can bring us far, but small non-intrusive ads can be a bliss in the skies for the people actually hosting the instance. Especially if there are millions of users uploading...
Haha an average session on the website was about eight and a half minutes. Must be alot of folks that come to see one post and leave to average out those of us that are terminally online.
I’ve seen a number of posts stating that they are worried that multiple instances will have overlapping magazines, like “Technology“. It’s true this will happen. But I don’t think it is a problem....
This place has roughly 3,000 people and was intended to be an entire replacement for DaystromInstitute and StarTrek as they were going dark indefinitely. Well, within 4 days the moderators have walked back those statements and opened both subreddits up. I see no incentive for people to come to this website now and while a few...
I wasn't subbed to either of the communities that the op said this was originally for, and I found kbin whilst searching for a Reddit alternative. I like the whole federation thing, it's new and interesting, for now at least.
I don't know if you're looking for solutions, but if you Google how to pull apart that centre console for your specific car, it's usually fairly easy and there'll be videos showing you how. You could do a reasonable job of painting it or covering it with a material that's not so shiny.
There is a substantial amount of spam and NSFW posts on the All page coming through already. Most NSFW posts aren't being tagged as such and are coming right through. I am not sure how this can be weathered but we need something in place fairly soon, I feel like we are days away from rivers of bad stuff, especially via some of...
Is it possible to have separate nsfw tags for nudity Vs gore or is all gore supposed to be tagged nsfl instead. Because that was something I thought Reddit should have had different, if you turn off nsfw, you miss alot of things that are '18+' that aren't nudity. If that makes any sense.
It does seem like a terrible decision, I wasn't even going to delete my stuff because it's frankly useless, there's not much of it and I couldn't be bothered. But now I kind of want to just to put a stick in the spokes
I think trying to protest reddit's asshattery via the blackouts is one tactic, but it appears to be losing a lot of steam for many misinformed reasons. I’m betting there’s a lot of shilling as well....
Perhaps I've misunderstood how Lemmy works, but from what I can tell Lemmy is resulting in fragmentation between communities. If I've got this wrong, or browsing Lemmy wrong, please correct me!...
There's a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we've seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well. The most important things we can do right now are stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep moving forward. We absolutely must ship what we said we would....
/m/politics is basically unmoderated, and the trolls and other ne'er-do-wells are starting to find it. I'm not even particularly interested in following it, but that's one topic that you don't want to leave unmoderated. It's a troll magnet for obvious reasons, and that starts to affect the rest of the instance (and the...
I'm in the same boat, but I wonder if you can mod on a casual basis, because I'm just not spend 3 hours a day modding material, maybe a half hour here or there tops 😋
Hi everyone. I'm a long time smoker but only recently got into #dryherbvapes so when I first joined kbin and I saw there was no community yet I immediately set one up. Since then a couple of other fellow communities have sprouted up but we need to support each other so we can all flourish, so check out the sidebar where I have...
Can't work out how to make a new thread, it just keeps going to the micro blog bit. So I'll ask here.
Has anyone got a good technique for getting reclaim out of a (what I'm guessing is) silicone whip? Is the best way to just do an alcohol rinse? Or can I just stick it in the fridge for a bit and it will crack off? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Can we de-federate from hexbear before they enable federation?
Hexbear is about to join the lemmy community. We should preemptively de-federate from them as it's full of hate and extremist content.
What's Beehaw's opinion on Facebook doing NDAed meetings with fedi admins/devs? (fedipact.online)

We need to be able to differentiate between NSFW and porn.

Reddit’s average daily traffic fell during blackout, according to third-party data (www.engadget.com)

OC YSK if you overwrote your comments and posts that Reddit is restoring them to previous states
Why YSK: Because you may delete your account and find your comments and other content is restored and beyond your control....
Maybe we should go after reddit’s investors and advertisers…

Does lemmy.world really have 26000 users already? (lemmy.world)
Almost! At the time of this post, lemmy.world has a whopping 25733 users and is growing fast....
I don't see how Lemmy will fill the gap of Reddit - it's resulting in fragmentation

Curious, if you were/are a Reddit user, will you be leaving the platform for good or have you already? CEO has called unpaid moderators' concerns "noise", that will be "passing soon."
