I'm a scientist and systems engineer, particularly materials science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, bioengineering, renewable energy, um... okay, so kind of I enjoy being a general engineer and doing a little of everything.
But I love trying to help scientists turn super technical concepts into usable prototypes because I can translate biologist to electrical engineer really effectively.
I am the star trek kind of anarchist.

What "third generation" Trek is worth watching?
I started with Star Trek after watching the Star Trek (2009) movie in college. After that I went wild watching everything I could since I was young with loads of time. How do you feel about bots automatically reposting content from Reddit onto Lemmy?
I sort by all and new and have seen a fair amount of posts from bots bringing over content from Reddit. A lot of it doesn’t have much if any engagement on here and as far as I can tell even if there was it wouldn’t cross back and forth between the two platforms....
You can have any superpower, but the first person to reply chooses a side effect
self-explanatory!!
Rather than telling Reddit users to migrate, share links to Fediverse posts to drive them here
The more people see the engagement, the more chance of them asking "what is that?" It won't be long until the apps are better, and links to articles could be less likely to get suppressed than migration memes....
I found a major communication problem with public perception of Lemmy. they seem to think a community is tied to a particular instance (www.reddit.com)
This is a big problem. It creates the illusion that /c/cats on one particular instance is the real /c/cats....

Who owns the Fediverse? I mean who owns and runs the hardware that runs this system?
I've been talking to many people about the controversy with Reddit, why I left it and why I went onto Lemmy, Kbin and Mastadon instead. Some of my friends have commented that the control is still a problem as other platforms and it is all dependent on who owns the software, who owns the hardware, who are the admins, who are the...
