So I've seen a few posts regarding news outlets calling the protests a failure, and I don't really think that's the case. The protests have clearly made an impact, especially if the Reddit CEO is willing to oust MODS to reopen subreddits. I truly believe that something has been jump started here on Lemmy, Kbin, and all of the...
I am very comftable with he/him pronouns. Always was but recently I noticed that while I don't go out of my way to use them I'm also fine with they/them pronouns being used on me....
I've been on Lemmy for 12 days apparently, feels like a lifetime! And I keep seeing posts about how it's too empty or there's no content outside of the Reddit drama or whatever....
People need to make active communities I'm interested in, cause I'm not making them. Only a couple subs I'm missing from reddit though, more just want more activity in the existing ones. And I don't care to start threads...
Long term it will be harder to keep people around if the quality content is somewhere else. At this point, it's probably too early for most people to be interested in joining this space, but if over time this is where the content is, then more people will switch. Otoh, repost bots will keep things looking alive, so casual lurkers might not even notice. But if someone is just worried about quarterly bonuses, so what if they website dies a slow death over the next couple years?
As a child, I'd never consider it too large. Now I'd say many controllers have the opposite problem: they're too small or cramped (joycons, SNES, NES, and most dualshock controllers). Surprised the one-controllers-size-fits-all is considered the norm. The only exceptions I can think of are DSXL and 3DSXL as official larger controllers... you just have to buy a totally new console.
I'd pick N64 for a few select games (Mario Party 1, for example). GC for probably most games that don't need two analog sticks or a usable dpad, xbox one for games the do use either of those.
Hello there. Angry parents stories are sadly more common, but I remember reading back on Reddit a heartwarming story about a dad who accepted fully his daughter. So while we all know how "bad" relationships usually go, I'm curious to hear about people who had love and support in their journeys.
Not exactly out to my parents, but overall I'd say they're fairly accepting? One mom is fairly eggy and repeats some right-wing talking points sometimes, but she'll go out of her way to give compliments when presenting in ways that don't conform to AGAB-expectations. The other mom (stepmom), I have no complaints. But since I'm not out, the only changes is things like stepmom asked if I identify as a woman. Amab NB, so I said "no", but I appreciate that they tried.
Some states in the US still have marriage exceptions in the age of consent laws and some states still have laws allowing you get married at young ages with parents/judge approval iirc. Also several states that have some exceptions for some forms of marital rape. So not really surprising that other countries would also technically have laws like that. Definitely room for improvement in a lot of places...
Gonna start by saying I am super nervous even posting this. It is one thing to even admit things to myself in my head let alone reach out on the internet. Hopefully it is okay to post this here....
Given something like asktransgender does not exist here yet AFAIK, seems like a pretty good place to ask such questions. You shouldn't feel shame for wanting to be a woman, but its unfortunately easy to feel that way.
Relatable. Took me forever to realize I wasn't "technically heterosexual" or "technically cis" because the two interconnected in ways that masked and excused the other. Realizing I was probably ace quickly led to questioning my gender. But questioning my gender has led me back to a bit of questioning if I'm ace or what kind of ace I am...
Was confused about how others felt sexual attraction starting in middle school and wondered if people made it up. In high school I started to wonder if I was somwhere on the ace-spectrum, but I mistook aesthetic attraction and/or gender envy for attraction and was convinced I was allo. Spent the next decade feeling out of place around allos and saying things like sexual attraction has nothing to do with interest in sex before realizing maybe I was actually ace. Have been slightly questioning it a little bit (mostly since realize I actually am not all that cis), so maybe I'll realize I was wrong again eventually.
Back when I played POGO regularly, every couple months probably when they start to get lose and not charge consistently. Lots of wear and tear when using them. Ones around the house probably last like 1-2 years? Doesn't matter if its the cable that came with the phone, offrbrands, or expensive name-brands.
Have long considered my gender related to my (presumed, undiagnosed) autism. Even years before I considered my gender much. Granted, when I first found out a buddy of mine in high school later came out as trans, I was confused as to how someone who is autistic could be trans (or have a gender at all). Didn't know about agender as an option back then, or it would have been more obvious I wasn't "technically cis". Granted, with how many other obvious things I ignored for the longest time, who knows?
With some migrations underway it's natural to use well established community names for discoverability, but it got me thinking how I've always disliked MtF as a community name since it feels dated and "medicalizing"....
The term "transfemme" also feels a bit exclusionary of trans women on the more butch side of presentation. All trans women are female, but not all of us are feminine. Though I do understand "transfemme" is more inclusionary of non-binary identities, so I don't think there's a good way to be 100% inclusive of all of us.
OP suggested transfem, not transfemme. I think the former is more inclusive than the latter as "fem" can be short for both "female" and "feminine". But that's my personal take on it, and no clue if other people see it that way or use it that way.
Personally, I liked MtF when I was clueless to trans terminology because even if you don't think trans people are their actual gender, its unambiguous what it means. Meanwhile, someone who doesn't see trans women as women or trans men as men can easily be confused about whether a trans woman is someone who was AFAB and trans or a woman who happens to be trans. Hence all the accidental ally memes of transphobes telling trans women they'll never be real men or trans men they'll never be real women. But I think the concerns of the people actually part of the community should matter more than worrying about how ignorant people will display their ignorance in funny ways.
Anyways, I consider myself transfem (even if I don't really like using the label), but not mtf. Given the sub description specifies its not just for mtfs, I don't really care either way.
I've seen a few discussions about the "failed" protests and wanted to talk about it
