I just need a little more time. There will likely be a technical break announced tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Along with the migration to new servers, we will be introducing new moderation tools that I am currently working on and testing (I had it planned for a bit later in my roadmap). Then, I will address your reports and handle them very seriously. I try my best to delete sensitive content, but with the current workload and ongoing relocation, it takes a lot of time. I am being extra cautious now. The regulations are quite general, and I would like to refine them together with you and do everything properly. For now, please make use of the option to block the magazine/author.

I don't get why people are clinging to the idea that reddit will suddenly give a fuck. They are unprofessional, rude, liars. It doesn't matter if they bend down and kiss your ass with a million false promises. They won't follow through.

Look at what happened to interestingasfuck, they are approaching a week with no mods and completely locked down. You can easily make reddit implode themselves with their hubris of mods being easily replaceable. They have shown that is not true. Y'all will be removed anyway before the IPO, they won't risk this again. So hurry up and let them implode before they have time to figure out an alternative before the IPO

I think it scratches a similar itch as most techbros: "if I can solve this hard problem, all problems are easy!" It's a mentality I see constantly, especially on the orange site.

There are a number of licenses that do this. And yes, many of them are not OSI approved and people will say mean things about not using the word open source. Which you should ignore and instead perhaps say fair source instead if you care.

A couple to look at:

Big Time License

a public LICENSE that makes software free for noncommercial and small-business use, with a guarantee that fair, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory paid-license terms will be available for everyone else

Prosperity License

Prosperity is a public LICENSE for software that makes work free for noncommercial use, with a built-in free trial for commercial users.

I also recommend going through the back log of posts by Kyle Mitchell, an engineer - lawyer who has authored a number of great software licenses, including the two I listed.

Kann ich bestätigen.
Am Rand einer Großstadt ist ÖPNV gut um in die Innenstadt zu fahren aber um sich am Rand zu bewegen sagen wir mal ausbaufähig.
Mein aktueller Arbeitsweg wäre mit ÖPNV eine gute Stunde länger als mit Auto oder sogar Fahrrad.

Nein.

Die werden rumopfern, dass ihnen Verwaltung/Gerichte/andere gewählte Organe sie sabotieren und dann versuchen, irgendwelche Symbolpolitiken durchzudrücken. Die ganzen Idioten werden trotzdem weiter wählen, weil die meisten von denen intellektuell gar nicht in der Lage sind, zu kapieren, was eigentlich ihre eigenen Interessen sind.

What's imho worse is how often config options or command flags don't actually do at all what's described in the manpage. I then have to dig into the source code once again and since you have to read through the whole behaviour it takes much longer than just looking up where the program tries to read config files.

Please - if you find such wrong docs in Open source software, submit a fix to the doc. It's as important as normal bugfixes.

Das sollte ganz oben stehen. Viele Menschen und Politiker haben keine Vorstellung davon, wie bürokratisch der zweite Bildungsweg in Deutschland ist.

Du willst mit Mitte dreißig auch nur deinen Hauptschulabschluss nachholen? Dann viel Erfolg bei der Beschaffung beglaubigter Abschriften deiner bisherigen Schulzeugnisse, die in den Bundesländern Voraussetzung für die Prüfungszulassung sind. Mit höheren Abschlüssen will man da gar nicht erst anfangen.

Anderswo meldest du dich einfach an einer passenden Schule an, bezahlst die Gebühren, das war's. Oder du schreibst dich gleich für ein Studium an speziellen Hochschulen wie der Open Universiteit (NL) oder auch ganz regulären Universitäten (Irland) ein. Dort gibt es dann eventuell noch einen Aufnahmetest, ansonsten sehen die formalen Voraussetzungen für Bachelor-Fernstudiengänge (oder andere Undergraduate-Programme) so aus:

Applicants aged over 23 years on January 1st in the year of entry are eligible for admission to the programme and are automatically granted a place subject to submission of an application form and deposit.

Die Liste mit Beispielen lässt sich natürlich fortsetzen.

Zu den Noten selbst: Irgendeine Bewertung und darauf aufbauende Selektion wird es leider immer geben. Wenn wirklich jeder diese Bewertung (seien es Noten oder was auch immer) später im Leben verbessern könnte (und zwar unabhängig vom bisherigen Lebensweg), wäre schon viel gewonnen.

Wo sind eigentlich die selbsterklärten Entbürokratisierer von der FDP, wenn man sie mal braucht?
