Die Grünen: Ja wir steuern auf die ganz große Krise zu, aber die ist mit den Mitteln die wir haben lösbar, wenn wir die nur endlich umgesetzt kriegen. Das System müssen wir dafür nicht umwerfen, nur ordentlich an die Kandarre nehmen.

Die AfD: Ja, endlich ist die dicke Krise da und wir tun alles um sie größer zu machen, damit wir dann auf ein authoritäres System umsteigen können. Das ändert nichts an der Krise, aber das traut sich dann keiner mehr zu sagen.

Die Linke: Ja, wir sitzen auf einem Zug in den Abgrund und müssten den Kapitalismus - und da teilen sie sich dann in diejenigen die ihn an die Kandarre nehmen und derzeitige Probleme sofort angehen wollen und diejenigen die ihn abschaffen wollen und Problemlösungen auf danach verschieben.

FDP: Die Krise ist schon ein bischen da, aber da wir total technologieoffen sind kommt schon einer der uns rettet wenn die Uhr auf 007 Sekunden stehen bleibt - hier James Bond Musik einfügen - . Bloß nicht am (kapitalistischen) System rütteln , es sei denn es ist gemeint den Markt ganz von der Kette zu lassen, das können wir gerne machen aber so wie es ist, ist es auch schon ganz gut.

SPD: Wie die Grünen, nur ist die Krise nicht ganz so dramatisch, dafür aber auch das Vertrauen darin dass sie lösbar ist kleiner.

CDU/CSU: Früher war alles besser und weil die anderen ändern wollen wie es früher war haben wir eine Krise und der Systemwechsel ist, dass wir die los werden und zu unserem alten System der schwarzen Koffer, des Aussitzens und der alternativlosen “es bleibt wie es ist” Politik zurückkehren.

Weder ist das Wort “Krise” definiert, noch das Wort “Systemwechsel” und daher kann man die Antworten nur innerhalb des jeweiligen Parteisystems beurteilen, falls überhaupt. Diese Scheiss Umfragen sind nicht nur nutzlos sie sind zunehmend schädlich für unsere Gesellschaft.

Bei so was stelle ich mir immer die Frage: Warum?

Warum müssen immer sobald versucht wird Missstände in der Industrie zu beheben, von denen Unternehmen jahrelang profitiert haben, Subventionen verteilt werden? Wo ist das viel beschworene unternehmerischen Risiko?

Wenn es wirklich darum gehen sollte lokale Fleischproduktion zu schützen, könnte man einfach höhere Mindeststandards definieren die auch Importeure erfüllen müssen. Es hat ja auch schließlich seinen Grund warum die Amerikaner ihre gechlorten Hühner bei uns nicht verkaufen dürfen.

Sad story. But always good to see someone take a stand. I hope they land on their feet.

“I want a small government that lets the free market do its thing, doesn’t tell me what to do, and doesn’t bother with regulation even when it comes to literal murder machines.”

“We need to take these books off the library shelf because I don’t agree with them and I don’t understand a lifestyle that isn’t my own.”

These two thoughts should not be able to go through the same brain. I know the answer is that they’re actually more motivated by hate and fear that “freedom”, but god damn is it annoying. Go live your own lives and stop worrying about what people do in the privacy of their own bedroom. Worried about child grooming? Go after the actual groomers found in churches and other places of power.

Schrecklich und tragisch. Wir müssen uns als Gesellschaft fragen, wie wir solche Taten in Zukunft verhindern können.

So tief sitzende Vorurteile lassen sich nicht über Nacht bekämpfen, aber wir köbnen alle dazu beitragen, sie langfristig zu besiegen. Sei es, indem wir jedes Mal, wenn wir homophobe Äußerungen hören, den Mund aufmachen, sei es indem wir uns mehr Sorgen um die Opfer machen als die Handlungen der Täter zu relativieren, sei es indem wir Organisationen und Vereine, die zu sowas beitragen nicht unterstützen und sie sogar mit den Mitteln, die uns im Rechtsstaat offenstehen bekämpfen, sei es indem wir keine Parteien wählen, die zu dem Hass und der Unterdrückung beitragen unter denen all die zu leiden haben, die nicht dem Bild entsprechend, dass diese Parteien als “normal” bezeichnen.

Wenn man sich mit Menschen unterhält, die offen LGBTQ+ sind, dann hat nahezu jede Person eine Geschichte beizutragen hat, in der sie mit Hass konfrontiert wurde und die Statistiken belegen es. Das ist reale Unterdrückung und Diskriminierung, die für unzählige Menschen schlicht Alltag ist. Die Ressentiments sind immer noch in unserer Gesellschaft präsent, ob wir nun die Augen davor verschließen oder nicht. Ganz egal wie laut die immerselben Idioten ihre Kommentare zum “Gendergaga” und zur “Homoideologie” herauskrakelen. Das fängt mit einem Comedian an, der Witze darüber macht, dass man sich hier nicht mehr zuhause fühlen könne, weil die Probleme, die immer da waren, plötzlich angesprochen werden und hört noch lange nicht mit der durchgebrannten 9-Watt-Birne auf, die geifernd Facebookkommentare verfasst. Von diversen Politikern fange och besser gar nicht erst an.

Mir fällt es ehrlich gesagt schwer zu verstehen, wie irgendwer so unfassbar unreflektiert und mit einem so schachem Moralgefühl ausgestattet sein kann, um diese Idiotie zu fördern und noch viel schwerer fällt es mir nachzuvollziehen wieso es Millionen davon geben kann. Jeder der zwei Sekunden darüber nachdenkt müsste doch eigentlich zu dem Schluss kommen, dass es falsch ist eine Person dafür zu hassen, welche körperlichen Merkzahle sie anziehen findet oder wo sie sich selbst im Geflecht der Rollenbilder wohl fühlt. Doch leider denken sehr viele Menschen offensichtlich eben nicht darüber nach. Offensichtlich denken viele Menschen überhaupt nicht über ihre Einstellungen und Meinungen nach. Anders kann ich mir viele davon schlicht nicht erklären.

Sehe ich auch so. Ist ja auch nicht so als wäre Merz der einzige offen Rechte in der CDU. Von der Werteunion und Maaßen mal abgesehen die ja ganz klar Rechtsradikal sind gibt es dann ja auch noch so Leute wie z.B. den Rhein die Tage mit seinem Unsinn über die Grenzkontrollen, immer wieder rassistische Aussagen, Bestrebungen zum Überwachungsstaat seit Jahren mit Vorratsdatenspeicherung die immer wieder vom Bundesverfassungsgericht gekippt werden muss,…

Diese Partei hat ganz klar ein gestörtes Verhältnis zu Demokratie und Freiheits- und Grundrechten.

Vielleicht ist den Leuten nicht ganz klar, wie wichtig ende-zu-ende Verschlüsselung für eine zensurresistente und funktionierende Gesellschaft ist.

Wenn man sich die Fälle von Julian Assange (Veröffentlichen von unjustifiable Menschenrechtsverletzungen im Krieg) und Snowden (massenüberwachung bei NSA und co.), dann ist es ein Segen, dass es Dinge wie e2e Verschlüsselung gibt. Mit solcher Kryptographie kann man wichtige Daten wirklich inwiederbringbar verschlüsseln und sicherstellen, dass nur die intendierten Akteure die Daten lesen können. Natürlich ist das auch bei medizinischen Daten oder Bankdaten etc. wichtig. Aber besonders wichtig ist es halt bei Daten, die Regierungen gerne verstecken möchten, die aber grundlegende Probleme in der Gesellschaft aufdecken (oder Korruption, etc.). In solchen Fällen und vielen Anderen reicht es nicht zu sagen “Wir vertrauen der Regierung/Firma X (Google, Apple etc.), dass diese Daten verschlüsselt und gesichert verarbeitet werden.” (Abgesehen davon, dass das nicht stimmt.)

E2E Verschlüsselung erlaubt es uns einfach Peer to Peer Daten zu verschicken, ohne dass andere Akteure zwischendurch vertraut werden müssen. Das ist viel zu wichtig und zentral, um das zu schwächen oder etwas anderes darüber zu stellen. Child-sexual-abuse wird dabei leider sehr gerne als emotional triggerender Grund verwendet um sowas durchzuboxen. Übrigens gibt es andere Dinge, die effektiver sind CSA online zu schwächen (bessere Bildung und Information für Eltern, Lehrer und Kinder, etc.).

Und selbst dann muss man wirklich in der Gesellschaft diskutieren und hinterfragen, ob diese wenigen Fälle von CSA wirklich Grund genug sind um eines der Grundpfeiler einer funktionierenden zensurresistenten Gesellschaft, nämlich E2E-Encryption, zu schwächen. (Falls jemand dazu ja sagt, dann fordere ich auch, dass sofort alle Autos verboten werden, weil täglich mehr Kinder und Erwachsene daran sterben. Dann wären wir immerhin konsistent.)

Deine Familie kratzt alles zusammen damit du auf eine bessere Schule gehen kannst. Sie bezahlen sogar deinen privaten Englischunterricht, in der Hoffnung auf ein ersehntes Auslandsstudium. Du kämpfst dich durch ein höllisches Schulsystem in dem du dich gegen deine Mitschüler durchsetzen musst und nimmst einen hohen Studentenkredit auf, um studieren zu können.

Es ist 2020/21 und die Zero Covid Politik ist da. Es gibt kein Auslandsstudium für dich. Du willst dich noch an deinen alten Englischlehrer wenden, zu dem du ein gutes Verhältnis hattest und ihn nach Rat fragen. Der war immer so locker drauf und weiß vielleicht, wo man doch noch ein Auslandsstudium kriegt. Aber er ist wegen der Pandemie nach fast 10 Jahren wieder raus aus China und wird nicht mehr wieder kommen.

Es ist 2022 und Englisch ist nun nicht mal mehr erwünscht. Du haust dir weiter die Ellenbogen blutig um dich an der Hochschule in China durchzusetzen. Vielleicht besuchst du deine Familie zu Neujahr und merkst, dass die immer wiederkehrenden Lockdowns und damit verbundene Lebensmittelknappheit an ihnen nicht Spurlos vorbeigehen. Du legst dich für sie noch mehr ins Zeug. Du bekommst die Massenproteste gegen die Partei in den sozialen Netzwerken mit, die nur kurz anhalten bis die Partei die Pandemie über Nacht für beendet erklärt. Du bist noch Wochen danach so verblüfft über diesen Sinneswandel, dass du fast nicht mitbekommst, wie ein Kumpel von dir, der Wochen zuvor auf einer dieser Demos war, plötzlich verschwindet. Du kannst dir denken was passiert ist und bist schlau genug, nicht nachzufragen.

Es ist 2023. Kein gutes Jahr um in den Arbeitsmarkt einsteigen zu wollen. So viel weißt du bereits. Da gibt der neue Mao dir in einer seiner Reden zu verstehen: “Friss Dreck, du Bauer” und nimmt dir noch das letzte Fünkchen Hoffnung nach einer Reihe äußerst schwieriger Jahre.

Die Abschlusszeremonie War letzte Woche. Da liegst du jetzt auf einer Parkbank. Jung aber schon ausgebrannt. Hochverschuldet und perspektivlos. Die Krisen jagen sich schon lange nicht mehr. Sie stapeln sich wie Kartenhäuser und stürzen über den Köpfen der Leute zusammen wie die Hochhäuser in den trostlosen Tofu-Dreg-Geisterstädten.

It’s a hard habit to break, because we’ve been trained to think this way for years, but try to remember: we don’t need to attract millions of users to be valuable. This isn’t a commercial enterprise. We don’t sell advertising. We don’t measure success by the number of eyeballs we can promise paying customers.

What matters now is the quality of conversation. In fact, that’s the ONLY measure of any consequence. It’s strange, because in the past, someone’s often tried to use services like this as a way to make money, or as a way to make something else they were selling more attractive. We expected it. It was always in the back of our heads. It even got to the point that if a company did something that wasn’t an effort to increase profitability, we criticized them. Generosity, real generosity, was alien to us.

It’s hard to wrap your head around the idea that people volunteer their time and money to build and maintain the fediverse, simply because they want us to be able to communicate. That’s it. There’s no hidden agenda. There’s no quest for profit at our expense.

I’m perfectly fine with the fediverse growing slowly. I don’t want it to be strained beyond what the mods can handle. Bigger isn’t necessarily better.

Point three seems entirely noncredible to me. They were doing a thunder-run, by all appearances. That doesn't just happen. You don't accidentally cross the Rubicon, you don't just happen to go "whoopsie, we're in the Moscow Oblast, aren't we goofy goobers!".

And then the assertion: "However, I want to emphasize that image has always been a secondary concern for Putin." Isn't that just... objectively false? Image has always been huge for Putin. He presents himself as a strongman, a man able to lie to your face, but is so powerful that you, the Russian citizen, can do nothing about it.

I think Beau of the Fifth Column's hot take is more likely -- Wagner wanted out of the war for a host of reasons, they especially didn't want to be taken control of by the MoD and essentially dissolved into the state apparatus. So Prigozhin decided to gun for Moscow in order to be able to force Putin's hand and let Wagner return to Africa, doing the PMC stuff that Wagner has been running around doing for years. This has probably been something he's been trying to negotiate for a year or so, but it all just came to a head with Bahkmut and the new contracts MoD was trying to push.

As weird as it is to say, especially because there's lives at stake and this shit ain't game of thrones, Prigozhin acted a helluva lot smarter than I had expected. I had him pegged as a convenient dumb thug, but he has played his cards overwhelming correctly here.

Putin is still visibly running shit while shit is circling the drain, and is still the big boss that is leading the charge for war.

Prigozhin has spent a lot of this war sending meat into the grinder, to be sure, but it's also looking like he's gone out of his way to send the conscripts into the heat and has kept back his more seasoned and loyalist troops. Those troops loyalty has likely been reinforced by Prigozhin protecting them from being included in meat-wave attacks, while at the same time they've also seen exactly how Russia itself treats its own soldiers. He's been given a perfect environment to forge an ultra-loyalist core within his mercenary company.

He's waited until things are absolutely, massively, dire for Russia and when he knows that Russian supply and troop movements won't be able to respond to brief insurrection. It's almost unquestioned that he could not take Moscow, much less seize power directly. He doesn't have the manpower, he doesn't have the support among the elites, he doesn't have the supplies. He cannot coup. But he managed to rattle huge portions of establishment Russia, show that establishment Russia is not as safe or secure as the establishment says, and has aligned himself with veterans, ultra-loyalists, and anti-war camps all in one move. Then, by taking the overnight deal and agreeing to withdraw, he not only "gets away with it" but even looks like he was the generous one, granting reprieve to the capital.

To the bulk of the public, there's a shuffling of chairs at the top of the military - while more pragmatically speaking Prigozhin has arranged for removal of two of his direct rivals, and has negotiated replacing them with allies. It's been widely rumoured and seems to be accepted that Wagner was given some of the worst assignments and was routinely under-supplied - not just because that's The Russian Way, but because Shiogu and Gerasimov saw Prigozhin as a direct threat and Wagner losing troops or looking weak directly erodes his power in Russia. He's come out of this with a large core of loyal, seasoned, troops still reasonably equipped, and has put on a performance of power and strength that it was impossible for Russia to miss. He got to go through the spectacle of beating the Russian military on home turf in one their own strongholds, and had both their own troops and local citizenry appearing to side with Wagner's threat of coup - but all without having to commit entirely and risk the probable failure.

The balance of power behind the curtain has shifted significantly, for all that the man in front of the curtain - Putin - remains firmly in charge. And Prigozhin even managed to tiptoe through the entire episode without challenging Putin directly and while giving Putin a way out of the PR disaster he's facing - that just happens to require aligning himself even more closely with Prigozhin's camp.

Like, not going to go all out like this is 5D chess shit or something, but it's an impressively cunning series of moves to have set up his forces for this moment, to know when to strike, and when to accept terms and take an exit; all of which I'd have thought would be above the head of a guy who mostly seemed like more of a brutish fixer than someone who might be adept at playing political games.

I think at this point Putin is looking for a way out that isn't a bullet. The real problem for dictators isn't gaining, or holding, power - it's how to retire safely.

At the moment, there's impasse. Putin is still in charge, Prigozhin is still deferential, and this matter has resolved in a way where neither man has to maintain conflict or lose face. Prigozhin has his forces out of the crucible that will be the coming months of counteroffensive, he's safe to consolidate and build power in Russia, while Putin is still holding the bag on the failed war and Putin's main option as far as passing the buck will involve blaming the high-up military and intelligence figures - who are currently responsible for keeping Putin safe. He'd have to turn to other allies to protect him, and Prigozhin is posturing up to become the only viable option.

No, this was their job, not a project. They do this for a living. Jobs do not automatically have crunch time, crunch time is a factor of poor management combined with capitalistic inflexibility. It's a systemic and societal flaw, not something to be excused as "not for everyone." It's unethical. You can just take more time, nothing delayed has ever ended up worse because of the delay, but a lot of delayed projects end up better and have happier crews after the fact compared to rushed projects. "Just quit" is a fucking awful thing to tell people who want to do a job well and still have a life, you don't tell people to just stop having a paycheck if they can't handle workplace abuse. This is everything wrong with modern film making and game design, just a complete lack of basic human decency and defending it by claiming the end justifies the means. How about "just treat your employees right and don't be a piece of shit?" Or "learn to manage resources better." Star Citizen is an apples to oranges comparison and it's also cherry picking, the overwhelming majority of delayed media comes out after one or two delays. There should be labor laws that make crunch illegal.

What a bullshit article. I've highlighted some of it below:

Forums are pretty structured. Twitter and the new reddit are way less structured unless you're talking about structured with ads built in. That aside, that's a personal preference not a fact of the internet.

if you use "dollhairs" in an actual publication you're going to find it hard to be taken seriously.

As a product owner, all you have to do is try them all, and make a list of all their features to know what Reddit misses. And can you really blame them doing just that, especially in a pre-IPO state? After all, investors will invest in Reddit, not 3rd-party apps piggybacking on its APIs.

They should have built out the feature set and had a good usable app before making the decision then. It was a dumb decision, full stop. Re-reading this it makes even less sense. Who is blaming them for researching 3rd party apps? And, OF COURSE, the investors are investing in reddit. That's why they should have a usable app of their OWN before dropping the ball like this.

While admittedly, good design alone doesn’t improve much the valuation of a product, good design can distract from bigger issues and helps prevent users from flocking to 3rd-party offerings

Good design absolutely adds to the valuation. Like, what? If an app performs as badly as the native app to the point people have no choice but to use 3rd party apps for basic things like, I don't know, MODERATION, you need a drastic overhaul before shutting out those 3rd party apps.

For starters, subreddits going dark — aka making everyone else’s content go private without their consent — could be considered content theft. Imagine, for instance, a Medium publication unpublishing all your articles because their owners suddenly disagree with Tony Stubblebine. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t land well. The same applies here. Many Reddit users find themselves having to side with either Reddit or some small 3rd-party app developer. Pragmatically speaking, a large majority of them will side with the platform owners because ultimately those apps are nothing without Reddit and its API. Going back to Medium as an example, when the Medium Partner Program was introduced, some big publications reacted very similarly, got angry, grabbed their toys and left trying to take with them all their writers. Except it didn’t work, because people ultimately wanted the platform and its reach, which was already proven, as is Reddit’s.

I stopped reading it here. They lost me at this point. The author of this is either playing to reddit's side, has no idea of what's driving the current situation, or a mix of the two. There's no way someone that actually wrote an article about this, and actually researched it, would come away with this take. Comparing a paid service, like Medium, deleting the articles and things you have paid to access is vastly different than shutting down an established forum(subreddit), that voted do so, that was free of charge the entire time. I know they have paid subscriptions and their dumb NFT stuff, gotta pay the bills somehow, but that was such a brain dead take I had to stop.

I haven't read many Medium articles but if they're all this low of effort I don't feel I've missed out on much.
