I'm always amazed at how they get these shots. How do you get a spider to model and show off its fangs?

By the end of the century, it'll be the full alphabet. I just say "queer" instead of going through the entire list. "They're queer", "It's queer-friendly", "that's a show for queer folk", "they're a queer couple", "so I swiped left on this queer woman yesterday...", "that's a queer-ally", ...

So much for equal representation.

Your sexuality isn't even worth putting in the main letters. You're just "other".

Dutch education and research association starts trial with self-hosted Nextcloud as a replacement of commercial suppliers to "protect public values" (www.surf.nl)

“It’s good to look at alternatives to the Microsofts and Googles of this world. You want to be in charge of your data yourself and not rashly hand it over. So it is also about reclaiming a bit of autonomy,” says Daniel Ostkamp, researcher at Radboud University....

elouboub,

For three months, therefore, together with some members, we experimented on the open source platform Nextcloud.

I think the experiment is over.

During the trial period and the evaluations, it showed that participants could get on well with Nextcloud and that the platform is applicable in practice.

"A logical next step is a scaled-up trial period in which we investigate whether Nextcloud can be included in the service portfolio," says Van Himbergen.

There is hope

Is Ernest OK? Maybe the explosion of interest was a bit too much to handle right now. Out of curiosity, why did you fork it to github and not stay on codeberg?

People out here are so easy to manipulate, it's friggin' hilarious. No wonder stuff like QAnon exists.

Hamas fighters probably had their instructions taped to their forehead so that when they look at each other they remember what they're there for. "Habibi! I totally forgot why we're here! Look me right quick so I can remember.... Oh right. Kill the children. Got it."

I wonder why the school didn't inform anybody and had to respond to pressure instead of being forthright. I wouldn't want my kid to go there anymore after kind of attempted cover-up.

elouboub,

I mean, at the extremes, a bunch of things start acting weird. Cool gas down enough and it turns liquid, heat it up enough and you get plasma (?), put it under enough pressure and you get liquid (?), send strong currents through materials and they start acting weird too.

What makes this ice though? the structure?

Governments worldwide should support their auto industries because it’s fundamental to any country’s GDP and future wealth base

I believe this to be the completely wrong approach. Europe shouldn't feel threatened. They should make cars much less important. Europe should be investing in green tech and public transport (buses, metros, trams, trains) so much that the average person doesn't even want a car. That a car is only required for very specific tasks that otherwise cannot be done without other modes of transport.

China could make the best car ever and it wouldn't matter if it cars had a tiny market. But when you read the advice given by car-addicted, car-centric people, then can't think of making cars less important. It goes completely against their beliefs, no matter how much it harms the environment, citizens, and governments. They just want that shiny new car-sized iPhone.

Bucket in the shower to collect run-off water for flushing? Thought it was standard until I learned people don't even bother turning the faucet off when brushing their teeth.

elouboub,
elouboub avatar

I mean, do we really need to flush with drinking water? It's literally drinking water straight into the toilet. 6l at that for "big business" and 4 for a single whizz. And that multiple times a day.

I lived with people who would have full political debates with a tooth brush in their mouth and the tap on.

Poland prepares to vote in a high-stakes national election with foreign ties and democracy at stake (apnews.com)

Poland is holding an election Sunday that many view as its most important one since the 1989 vote that toppled communism. At stake are the health of the nation’s democracy, its legal stance on LGBTQ+ rights and abortion, and the foreign alliances of a country on NATO’s eastern flank that has been a crucial ally to Ukraine....

In the grand scale of things humans have existed for a blip. In the grand scheme of things nothings matters.

I find that quite a useless argument to make.

elouboub,
elouboub avatar

Because obviously it's important? You are the one who is thinking in universe scale terms. I'm in the human realm where a decade is probably 1/8 to 1/7 of a human's life and we can't fast forward through it.
