Bingo. I couldn’t help but notice how many new industries US companies just got access to with these agreements. Also worth mentioning in a countries whose population just surpassed China’s.

Just cancelled prime a few days ago and yea it was a pain. I love all the small shady crap like using a grey text box for the “cancel membership” button and the blue one for “resume membership” followed by another page full of reasons why you shouldn’t cancel and double checking to make sure you know your losing the benefits. I swear it might’ve been a total of 4-5 pages.

Side note, more companies need to be held accountable for this as well. There are a lot of streaming services that do the same thing.

Welcome. It’s good to know that your comments won’t get deeply buried in a thread that was posted 15 min ago. It’s still a small community so there’s a great chance of good interaction (at least in my experience using it for a few days now).

Climate caused migration may be the biggest international issue that northern developed nations will face in the 2nd half of the century. The massive impact the climate has had in the equatorial/lower tropic countries the past few years has been alarming.

Tesla REALLY dropped the ball on the cyber truck. They had the hype (positive or negative) when it was unveiled and could have made a killing by releasing it on time. But allowing Ford and others to release EV pickups may have already doomed it.

Hasn’t even been a full week since I opened my account and the growth I have seen every day has been INSANE. From <50 upvotes, <20 comments, and <5 boosts 100+ upvotes and comments in the span of 5 days has been pretty cool to see.

Well it’s not everyday that I see a positive rate of change from one generation to the next. I love my child and will spend whatever moment I can with them.

This is the generation that has been raised in the “attention economy” of social media companies trying their absolute hardest to keep them engaged on their screen.

Sitting down and reading a book requires attention and focus that many of todays youth find very difficult to do.

Strange way of trying to “thaw” relations…

Jury is till out it’s way too early to tell. The fediverse seems very unrefined still (which I kind of enjoy tbh). If its truly going “save the internet”, a lot of refining needs to be done in order to attract at a mainstream scale.

It’s been really refreshing so far though.

WORKS like the old Wild West of Web 2.0

Well said

I’m hoping that now that we have seen a fair share of social media companies rise and fall and why they’ve fallen, many people will begin to find out what they are looking for in a social media network.

Well said. Climate caused migration is going to be one of if not the biggest international issue of 2nd half of this century. With how equatorial/low tropic counties have been suffering these recent years, migration at a scale countries have never seen may become a reality.

Western/developed nations are not prepared for what’s coming. Economically, politically, and socially.

The government is helping Big Telecom squeeze out city-run broadband (www.theverge.com)

“Did you know the state of Michigan only lets you build a network if enough private companies don’t bid? Florida requires local officials to explain how their network will be profitable within four years, as if profits were the point of fixing the digital divide. Nevada will only let towns and counties with tiny populations...

It really is unfortunate all throughout if you live outside any major metro areas. I live in a town where there is only one ISP due to regulations listed in the article.

Monthly fees for internet is unnecessarily high for low (but adequate) speeds. The whole thing is anti-consumer.

Lucky. I am waiting VERY patiently for any of those two to move in to my area.

Why are conversations on Reddit often so hostile and toxic now days?

Reddit used to be a great platform to discuss some topic and get different points of few in a friendly but factual manner. However, slowly it seems like the platform has become a lot more like Facebook, where it's been invaded by toxic people that are constantly looking for opportunities to shit and hate on others....

And the awards as well. I mean the amount of new awards I have seen introduced in Reddit just in the past 3 years has excessive and kind of cringeworthy tbh.
